GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Youth Program Specialist (YPS) is responsible for the oversight of several Christian Education Programs within the NEOSA Youth Department. The YPS will also assist with the management and operation of Camp NEOSA. As a member of the NEOSA Youth Department, they will play a role in many aspects of Youth Department events and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with and coordinate the Corps Cadet program under the direction of the DYS/ADYS.

Maintain a Corps Cadet database.Stay current with Corps Cadet lessons, grading, and recording.Compile requested reports to DHQ/THQ in a timely manner.Complete yearly Corps Cadet roll revision for the NEOSA Division.Produce divisionally supplied certificates and all required letters following each course.Serve as a Corps Cadet Counselor at your local corps, if able.

 

Support and resource the Junior Soldiers Program.

Provide training, support, and guidance about the Junior Soldiers Program to the field.Be up to date and familiar with Junior Soldier curriculum.Work with the DYS/ADYS to coordinate divisional incentives for program goals and growth.

 

Support and resource the Troops Program.

Provide training, support, and guidance for corps Troop programs.Manage the distribution of emblems including the requests and approvals in CMD.Implement the yearly registration of Troops in CMD including fees.Assist corps with the accurate maintenance of Troop records in the CMD system.Assist corps with the application for Troops awards.Work with the DYS/ADYS to coordinate divisional goals and incentives for program growth.

 

Support and resource Orange Sunday School.

Provide training, support, and guidance for corps Orange Sunday SchoolWork with NEOSA’s Orange representative to coordinate trainings.Be familiar with the Orange curriculum.Be familiar with the Live a Better Story curriculum.Promote corps resources and engagement.Work with the DYS/ADYS to coordinate divisional goals and incentives for program growth.

 

Serve as the administrator of the Bible Bowl program under the direction of the DYS/ADYS.

Prepare questions for each scrimmage.Communicate with corps officers about teams, scrimmages, and playoffs.Attend each Bible Bowl scrimmage.Assist with the setup and operation of Bible Bowl software.

 

Work with other members of the Youth Department to plan and implement divisional youth events:

Play a significant role in the planning, implementation, and leading of Youth Councils.Serve as coordinator of all programs for Youth Councils.Assist with the coordination of logistics with the Youth Councils location.Coordinate hired technical support, worship band, and guest speakers for Youth Councils.Assist with scheduling and planning of divisional youth events throughout the year.Receive and organize registrations for all Youth Department events.

 

CAMP DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with camp preparations, logistics, and management.

Assist with the recruitment, hiring, and training of camp staff.Supervise the camp Office Manager.Oversee the processing of camper applications and paperwork in the CampMinder system. This includes but is not limited to checking all paperwork for accuracy and coordinating with sending units regarding paperwork issues and corrections.Oversee the camp canteen including inventory, funds, and staffing.Maintain a database of seekers and coordinate with sending units to assist in camper follow-up after camp. Manage and enter statistics to DHQ for the summer.Submit all general liability and workers comp claims to Chesterfield.Assist as needed with the production of Jesus Theater that takes place at camp each week.Assist as needed with the execution of various camp programs throughout the summer.Assist as needed with hosting international staff during camp breaks.Live at camp from June through August or as necessary.

 

Serve as the GRACE Team Coordinator.

Supervise GRACE Team members and coordinate weekly meetings.Maintain yearly contact with GRACE Team members and encourage them with their commitment to the Lord and their involvement at their corps.Manage GRACE Team applications and interviews including making recommendations to the DYS/ADYS on which applications to accept into the program.Coordinate all staff hiring paperwork for GRACE Team members.

 

The YPS will be responsible for general office work assigned by the DYS and DCS.

 

There may be other items assigned by the DYS or DCS. It is expected that the YPS position be diligent in working ahead on assignments and that they are always working to grow the programs and activities that they are responsible for overseeing. The Youth Department works as a team and so this position will be required to attend all Youth Department events, staff meetings, and other opportunities made available by the necessity of the position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must possess a college degree or have equivalent experience to provide oversight of programs under their supervision.Must possess a valid driver’s license.Must be a uniform wearing Salvationist and an active soldier in the NEOSA Division.
