About the role 

This is an opportunity to join the casual pool of Youth Development Coaches where availability to work a variety of shift times is essential and will be based at The Foyer in Chippendale

Foyer is a service that operates 24/ 7 and shift time are as follows:
- 7:00am – 3:30pm
- 12:30pm – 9:00pm
- 3:00pm – 11:30pm
- 11:00pm – 7:30am (awake overnight shift)

Uniting is currently in need of experienced, qualified, and professional Youth Development Coaches to join our casual staffing pool at Foyer Central.

Based in Chippendale in Sydney's CBD, this casual role is responsible for working with young people aged 18-22 years who have a lived experience of out of home care. 

Your goal will be to motivate our young people to engage in required daily activities.  You will work to provide a safe and stable environment, demonstrating positive role modelling to enable our young people to meet their goals and achieve their full potential.

Foyer Central is Uniting’s bold social impact investment program in partnership with St George Community Housing Social venture Australia.  The program provides young people with a lived experience in Out of Home Care (OOHC), independent housing with a supporting team of Youth Development Coaches.

About you:

Availability, reliability and flexibility. A professional team player who is friendly, empathetic, genuine and proactive. Must hold a minimum Diploma level qualification in Community Services or Child, Youth & Family Intervention Passion for working with young people and a sound knowledge of the issues faced by young people. Knowledge of multiple service systems and the support that young people leaving OOHC require to transition to independence (desirable) WWCC and Police Check with the ability to work flexible hours. Proven experience working in a residential youth care environment would be highly regarded Knowledge and understanding of trauma informed practice Practice within a coaching framework is (desirable) Willingness to work awake overnight shifts when required
