General Statement The WWAMI Medical Education Program provides education at MSU-Bozeman for first and second-year medical students in partnership with the University of Washington School of Medicine. This position involves teaching several laboratory classes that use anatomical dissection, as well as preparing cadavers and specimens for use in class. 

Appointments are on a part-time basis and vary in duration, a couple weeks, a semester or an academic year, depending on the specific needs of the department or program. Salary is dependent on the number of courses taught and duration. 

Montana State University values all perspectives and is committed to continually supporting, promoting and building a whole community, which includes people of many backgrounds.  Duties and Responsibilities Teach the WWAMI medical students proper dissection technique and identification of structures. Prepare the WWAMI anatomy teaching laboratories for first and second year students. This includes organizing, cleaning, completing dissections, and creating prosecutions. Organize review times prior to and set up laboratory examinations. Create and revise curriculum materials for Anatomy & Embryology lectures and laboratories. Keep the anatomical collection complete, organized and in good condition. Assist the Body Donation Program, including being on call, picking up and embalming cadavers and arranging final disposition. Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Bachelor’s degree in one of the Biological Sciences or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a related field. Undergraduate coursework in chemistry and biology, specifically including anatomy and physiology.  Demonstrated experience with anatomical dissection and working with human cadavers. Demonstrated experience as a teaching assistant or instructor in human gross anatomy. Demonstrated experience making chemical solutions and with general laboratory safety. Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Master’s degree in one of the Biological Sciences or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a related field.  Teaching experience in a dissection laboratory is preferred to experience demonstrating prosections. Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred. Prior knowledge of Access database software would be helpful. The Successful Candidate Will Have effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills · Be able to express empathy when talking with bereaved families. Have experience communicating complex scientific information to diverse audiences. Have the ability to work independently on a wide variety of tasks and in different roles. Maintain effective attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing competing demands Possess a commitment to health education. Take initiative and work well independently.  Exercise good judgment and self-motivation. Maintain strict confidentiality of records and information. Position Special Requirements/Additional Information Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.  Must possess currently or be eligible to obtain a valid State of Montana Driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record (less than 12 points).

The WWAMI Medical Program at Montana State University admits 30 Montana residents into the program leading to the degree of Doctor of Medicine. Montana WWAMI students complete the first year and a half of medical school at MSU, including training in both the basic sciences and clinical skills.
