Workshop Manager - Drifter and Components - M3

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is a global leader in the supply of equipment, tools, services, support and technical solutions for the mining and construction industry.  

As a Drifter and Component Workshop Manager at Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, you'll lead our workshop operations to ensure efficient service delivery, foster contract growth, maintain strong customer relationships, and manage resources and personnel. Your role is crucial in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of equipment maintenance and servicing. You'll lead teams effectively, optimize technical processes, and drive equipment performance and productivity while spearheading continuous improvement initiatives for enhanced service quality and operational excellence. 

Main Responsibilities: 

Effective Operations: Manage maintenance work, implement corrective actions, seek cost reductions, utilize asset management tools, and generate client reports. 

Reporting and Analysis: Generate reports on KPIs, conduct reviews, analyze data, and communicate results effectively. 

Inventory Management: Oversee spare parts inventory, manage stock levels, and ensure timely availability of critical components. 

Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with standards. 

Continuous Improvement: Identify process improvement opportunities, analyze data, and implement best practices. 

Effective Customer Service and Stakeholder Management: Communicate effectively with customers, internal departments, and external partners, address customer needs, and provide sales solutions. 

Effective People Management: Lead and develop a team, establish performance agreements, create learning opportunities, and provide coaching. 

Profit and Loss Effectiveness: Develop and manage the service operations budget, control costs, and maximize profitability. 

Safety, Health, and Environment Effectiveness: Ensure compliance with regulations, implement safety protocols, and foster a culture of safety. 

Minimum Requirements: 

Grade 12 / Equivalent qualification 

Trade certificate 

National Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or similar (NQF Level 6) 

Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or similar (NQF Level 7) (Advantageous) 

Minimum 5 years as a workshop supervisor and 5 years in equipment maintenance 

Experience in Budgeting and Forecasting 

Experience in Planning 

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication. 

Project Management: Basic understanding of project management principles. 

Required Competencies: 

Technical Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, financial acumen, analytical skills, account management, and product knowledge. 

Personal Effectiveness: Safety focus, customer service orientation, continuous improvement mindset, effective communication, adaptability, stakeholder management, and teamwork. 

Other Requirements: 

Physical & Medical ability to function in a mining environment. 

Required to travel.
