Description Robert Half is looking for a highly skilled and experienced WordPress Developer for a 6 month contract position. We're looking for a developer with a deep understanding of WordPress and a proven track record of building and maintaining complex websites. About the Role: You will be a key member of our development team, responsible for building and maintaining WordPress websites for our clients. This role requires a strong understanding of WordPress architecture, theme development, and plugin integration. You will work closely with other developers, designers, and project managers to deliver high-quality solutions. Responsibilities: + Develop and maintain WordPress websites, including custom themes and plugins. + Work with enterprise-level WordPress Multisite installations. + Build 100% custom WordPress themes (no starter themes or zero-code solutions). + Implement and manage WordPress parent/child theme structures. + Develop and maintain WordPress block-based and hybrid (block/classic) theme structures. + Manage and support websites with large and diverse backend user bases. + Utilize WP CLI for efficient WordPress management. + Write clean, efficient, and well-documented PHP 8.0+ code. + Work comfortably with the command line. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget. Requirements Required Skills and Experience: + WordPress Expertise: A deep understanding of WordPress architecture, theme development, and plugin integration is essential. + Custom Theme Development: Proven experience building 100% custom WordPress themes (starter themes and zero-code solutions do not qualify). + Theme Structure Proficiency: Experience with WordPress parent/child themes, block-based themes, and hybrid (block/classic) theme structures. + Multisite Experience: Familiarity with or experience working on enterprise-level WordPress Multisite platforms. + Backend User Management: Experience supporting websites with large and diverse backend user bases. + WP CLI: Proficiency in using WP CLI for WordPress management. + PHP: Strong PHP 8.0+ coding skills. + Command Line Proficiency: Comfortable working with the command line. + Version Control: Experience with Git. + Front-End Technologies: Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XPath. + Package Management: Experience with npm and webpack. + Bash Scripting: Familiarity with Bash scripting.
