Nevada Gold Mines: Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering Co-Op

Position Description:

Responsibilities:

Work closely with production and maintenance supervision, along with outside departments, to ensure environmental compliance, safe functionality of the plant operation, and maintenance of equipment.  Assist with projects through all aspects of experimental design, engineering, construction, and commissioning.  Support automation initiatives targeting data collection and/or process variance control.  Support regular process assessments to identify opportunities to maximize throughput and/or decrease production/maintenance costs.  Intervene, as necessary, to ensure the health and safety of all employees, as well as protect the environment and NGM assets. 

Qualifications: 

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate metallurgy/chemical engineering program at a Canadian university (required). Completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies (required). Ability to research, analyze information, and draw conclusions (required).  Knowledge of commonly used water treatment process/techniques (preferred).  Strong Microsoft Office skills (required).  Basic knowledge of modelling/simulation tools (JKSIMMET, METSIM) (preferred).  Knowledge of the basic principles and methods used in complex gold metallurgical and processing analysis (asset). Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and manage several projects simultaneously (required). Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills (required).
