Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Wind Project Engineer who will be responsible for the overall technical development and execution of wind energy projects, with a focus on the wind turbine aspects.

Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day technical project management, including drafting integrated Employers Requirements/Specifications for turbine contracts.

Negotiate and finalize supply, installation & service contracts, leading the technical interface between various work packages.

Identify optimal solutions for projects in early stages, considering civil, mechanical, and electrical aspects.

Conduct technical and commercial analysis of proposals, ensuring technical compliance with project documents.

Coordinate contractor and technical advisor procurement under EPC and O&M agreements.

Interface with stakeholders during financial close and construction, managing design reviews and providing technical input.

Manage wind turbine contracts and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Monitor wind farm installation, commissioning, and on-site activities, collaborating with construction and asset management teams.

Contribute to procedural improvements and adapt to evolving project demands.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

10+ years’ experience in the wind energy environment.

BEng/BSc/BS (Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electrical)

Strong understanding of turbine supply and installation EPC and O&M agreements, experience with split wind farm contracts is preferred.

Awareness and understanding of the relevant technical codes, regulations and standards relating to the development of renewable energy projects in South Africa.

Expertise in performance testing of wind energy projects
