Wildlife Biologist
WSP has an employment opportunity for an Intermediate Wildlife Biologist who specializes in bird work (point counts, migration surveys, nest sweeps, raptor surveys) in Edmonton, AB or Saskatchewan (Saskatoon or Regina). Come find out for yourself what it's like to be a part of our journey. **What you'll be doing at WSP:** + Leading migratory bird surveys and migratory bird nest surveys + Leading songbird point count surveys + Conducting general and species-specific wildlife surveys, including for _Species at Risk_ + Working alone or within a team to conduct field work + Data entry + Writing field reports **What you'll bring to WSP:** + Education: B.Sc. in an appropriate discipline and/or advanced degree; + 5+ years of experience conducting bird surveys. + Strong bird identification skills (visual and auditory) in multiple regions (i.e., prairies, boreal, mountains) + Be able to recognize bird behavior and habitat + Experience with digital data collection and data management is desired + Good wildlife identification skills for non-bird species (visually, auditory, and signs) + A good understanding of the _Migratory Bird Convention Act_ + Field experience with wildlife surveys + A good understanding of wildlife habitat requirements, particularly for Species at Risk + Willingness to travel and work flexible hours including field work under a variety of conditions, and shift work in remote locations for 1 to 2-week periods + Effective communication skills + Strong organizational and time management skills + Excellent interpersonal skills, team-oriented + Valid driver’s license **WSP** is one of the world's leading professional services firms.
