Job Description OVERVIEW/BASIC FUNCTION: To be the link between the Fitness guest and the Spa. Responsible for providing a clean, safe, and helpful workout environment for the users of the Fitness Center and Spa, as well as aiding those working out, how to use equipment, answering questions and offering stretching sessions on demand. Wellness Ambassador may offer Personal Training session, provided that he/she holds appropriate certification. Ensure the fitness area remains clean and organized; organize dumbbells, weight plates, and bars. Disinfect and clean equipment. Actively supervise the fitness mezzanine and cardio areas. To be responsible for maintaining high standards of the hotel when fulfilling his/her duties; to keep a critical eye on Fitness cleanliness, Spa cleanliness, including but not limited to Changing areas, lockers, bathrooms, wet facilities (sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, mist shower), relaxation lounge. Have a thorough knowledge on the functioning of spa features, equipment, and therapies.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • To provide a courteous, professional, efficient, and flexible service always. • Ensure a safe workout environment through constant circulation of the weight and cardio floors. • Be able to answer basic fitness questions and have knowledge of equipment and proper workout technique. • Be available to manage fitness desk: Check out equipment and answer questions as needed. • Keep the fitness floor clean and make sure all weights and equipment/benches are in their proper place. • Clean equipment according to the assigned zone area/schedule and report to the Spa Manager. • Enforce all building policies and procedures, such as proper dress code for all users. • Be on the floor in proper uniform and ready to work at the start of the shift. • Execute emergency procedures when necessary. • Report any incident of injury, theft, or broken equipment to the Spa Manager. • Attending scheduled staff meetings and completing all required training. • Communicate effectively with and complete tasks assigned by the Spa Manager. • Communicates effectively with all peers and supervisors. • To maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards. • To ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level daily. • To inspect the fitness area at the start, during and at the end of shift to ensure that the set-up of the department is in accordance with established standards. • To check and replenish amenities of the fitness area at the start, end and if necessary, during the shift. • To perform opening and closing procedures according to the shift. • Assists guests in the fitness area with fitness related issues. • To always maintain positive guest relations. • To maintain good relationships with colleagues and contributes to team spirit. Cooperates and coordinates with colleagues whenever necessary. • To establish a rapport with guests, providing guest recognition and good customer relationships. • To always maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene. • To maintain a good rapport and working relationship with associates in all other departments. • To undertake any reasonable tasks and secondary duties as assigned by the Spa Team Leader. • To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned. • To strictly adhere to the local access regulation and attend to the SPA areas dedicated to the same gender, as the attendant (male to have access to male areas only, female to have access to female areas only). • To have a full working knowledge and ability to perform all duties and tasks listed in the job description. QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience: Some previous work experience is preferred. • Education: Secondary school. • General Skills: Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data. • Technical Skills: Thorough knowledge of all fitness equipment and how to operate them,   excellent oral communication skills, ability to anticipate guests needs. • Language: Required to speak, read, and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred. • Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert physical effort, endure various physical movements. throughout the work areas, reach up and down, and remain stationary at times throughout work periods. • Certifications: Personal Trainer License must be provided in case the associate carrys out basic fitness consultation on Equipment usage and offering stretching sessions
