Welding Supervisor
Job Description SummaryThe Welding Supervisor will be located at HPC New Build Project in Somerset UK as part of a team supporting the Turbine Generator Shaft line erection. The installation consists of 2 x 1750 MW Arabelle Steam Turbines & Generators with world class execution done Safely, with the right Quality and on time key principles of the project.

The Welding Supervisor will be in charge of the management of all shaftline site welding activities including planning, organizing, workscope integration, resource management, equipment identification and technical requirements to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements.

Welding Supervisor shall have extensive experience in Power Generation or other heavy industry workscopes.

The position will focus on supervising work ensuring all works are completed with the highest quality, zero safety incidents and to programme.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

Follow appropriate GE Policies, Procedures and complete necessary documentationAbility to take ownership / responsibility for technical, quality and safety whilst in the workplaceLead a site based welding team and ensure the safety, health and welfare of all team membersConduct daily meetings, toolbox talks and ensure the working party is safely put to workUnderstand contractual drawings to identify welding related requirements for various construction codes (including but not limited to ISO / ASME applications) and ensure correct welding documentation is available to the site teamEnsure a thorough quality management system is produced and maintained for each event in-line with relevant applicationExcellent understanding of material weldability regards heat treatment (pre-post weld), purging methods, etcAbility to communicate with the GE quality team and the clients technical representative on technical welding matters as requiredLead, monitor, and control daily progress to ensure the programmes scopes are achievedCo-operate with team members of other trade disciplines to ensure materials / components are prepared in the correct manner for subsequent welding activitiesAbility to problem solve site issues which could affect the contractual scheduleEnsure the correct welding equipment, tooling and consumables are ordered well in advance of eventExperience in large scale Power Station construction / overhauls or other heavy industriesManage work areas under strict Foreign Material Exclusion rules

Required Qualifications:

Level 3 pipe welder apprenticeship standard (ST0851) or an equivalent Apprenticeship in a Welding discipline or one of the following diploma’s: minimum of CSWIP 3.1 visual welding inspection or PCN Level II equivalentProven experience as a Welder Supervisor in a relevant industryDemonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilitiesFluent in English language
