OVERVIEW
Must have a minimum of 1 year’s experience as a qualified welder. Training and qualification testing will be complete within 6 months in the following:


SMAW-MA 3G LP, MP, ASME X-RAY OR OTHER APPLICABLE CODES
GMAW-SA 2G & 3G
FCAW-SA 3G


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Sets up welding equipment and prepares materials for welding.

Aligns, tacks and joins by welding, using processes and positions as required for this classification, to the assigned inspection requirements.

Safe use of welding fixtures, positioners, jacks, cranes and material handling equipment.

Arc gouges, grinds, and buffs to clean and blend for quality weldments.

Repair weldments, changes tips, drive gears, conduit liners, welding gun assemblies and gas bottles.

Processes instructions from supervision, process sheets, routings, welding specification sheets, drawings and /or job layouts.

Follow standard work instructions and make suggestions for improvement.

Reads x-ray films to determine methods to repair defects.

Uses standard measuring instruments.

Completes appropriate records of welding information.

Other duties as assigned


COMPETENCIES:

Follow safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Basic Math skills required in the welding profession.

Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; and talk or hear.

Occasionally required to climb.

Lift and/ or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

High school education and technical school

2 to 3 years of related experience

Or equivalent combination of education and experience

ASME experience a plus
