Salary: $46,391 Pay Grade: IT04 Location: Shared Services - Communications Req #: 47354 Closing date: Until Filled Job Duties: The Website Developer works with the Office of Communications and is responsible for a wide range of activities related to website management, such as designing and maintaining websites and web applications to ensure functionality, layout, and user-friendly interfaces across various devices. The Website Developer will research and evaluate current and future computer related technologies, respond to complex and specialized requests from department staff for web-based support, evaluate and implement necessary adjustments to applications to accommodate user requirements, recommend changes or updates to department web content, design, layout or efficiency and installs software updates and coordinates with developers or users to resolve problems. Ideal candidates must possess extensive knowledge of content management systems for web sites, the ability to identify and implement creative technological solutions to generate and distribute web-based content and analyze web design problems and devise corrective measures. Applicants must meet or exceed these qualifications: Formal educational equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or related field; plus, two years of experience in computer programming and analysis or related area. Preferred qualifications: In addition to above, two years of experience using WordPress, HTML and CSS. Position Information Class Code: D064C Grade: IT04 FLSA Status: EXEMPT Salary Range: $46,391.00 - $73,994.00 Summary The Website Developer is responsible for designing and creating web site layouts and determining ways to easily navigate through each site. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Functions Designs, builds, or maintains web sites, using authoring or scripting languages, content creation tools, management tools, and digital media. Writes, designs, or edits web page content, or direct others producing content. Backs up files from web sites to local directories for instant recovery in case of problems. Identifies problems uncovered by testing or customer feedback, and corrects problems, or refers problems to appropriate personnel for correction. Evaluates code to ensure that it is valid, is properly structured, meets industry standards, and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems. Maintains understanding of current web technologies or programming practices through continuing education, reading, or participation in professional conferences, workshops, or groups. Analyzes user needs to determine technical requirements. Develops or validates test routines and schedules to ensure that test cases mimic external interfaces and address all browser and device types. Performs other duties as assigned. Dimensions Occasional overnight travel is required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of current web-design trends. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language. Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and Macromedia Flash. Knowledge with cross-browser and cross-platform issues. Ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented in oral and written form. Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions. Minimum Qualifications The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or related field; plus two years of experience in computer programming and analysis or a related area.
