Web and Social Media Coordinator
Job Description: Callaloo is a literary journal dedicated to the creative and critical exploration of the African Diaspora. For almost fifty years, Callaloo has been one of the most essential and continuously published journals of African Diaspora arts and letters. The journal publishes original work by and about writers and visual artists of African descent from all corners of the world, offering readers an engaging mix of fiction, poetry, critical articles, interviews, and visual art. Callaloo plays a vital role in shaping the discourse around race, identity, and the African diaspora in literature and art. The Web and Social Media Coordinator for Callaloo Literary Journal is responsible for managing the journal’s online presence across its website and social media platforms. This role requires a creative and tech-savvy individual who can enhance the journal’s digital footprint, engage with its audience, and support fundraising and communication efforts. This position is hybrid-eligible. This is a part-time, fixed-term position, renewable annually from January 1, 2025, to June 30, 2029, dependent on funding. Education and Experience + Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field, plus 2-3 years experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. + Proven experience managing websites and social media accounts, preferably within a literary or cultural organization. + Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and analytics. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for engaging online audiences. + Experience with website content management systems (CMS) and basic HTML/CSS knowledge is a plus. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team. + Familiarity with fundraising strategies and tools is an advantage. + Creative, proactive, and passionate about literary arts and digital media.
