JOB SUMMARY\n
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs to facilities and equipment at the watersheds, including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, hydraulics, and heavy equipment.\n

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:\n
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.\n\nPerforms skilled mechanical work, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety inspections on all mechanical equipment and components, including heaving equipment, gas engines and diesel engines.\nPerforms preventive maintenance and repairs on electrical components of equipment and systems; diagnosis computer, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic failures. \nPerforms routine maintenance and repair of watershed facilities as necessary, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry and masonry work. \nPrepares maintenance records of all equipment\/system maintenance and repair work; maintains inventory records.\nTransfers power to emergency generators and back-up engines as needed. \nMaintains an adequate inventory of tools, parts and equipment.\nProvides field service calls on heavy equipment.\nRefuels generators and equipment at job sites.\nOperates tracked and wheeled earth moving heavy equipment in a safe manner for the purpose of performing duties related to maintenance, rebuild, and repair. \nPerforms all duties according to established policies, procedures, and standards of quality and safety. \nInteracts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other department employees, Greenville Water co-workers, and occasionally with property owners, customers, and the general public. \nWorks on call if scheduled.\nPerforms other related duties as required.\n\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: \n
A High School Diploma or GED. Must be able to obtain a Distribution Operator \"D\" classification within 2 years. Must obtain and\/or maintain a valid state driver's license. Must obtain and\/or maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.\n
Two (2) years of experience in mechanical and\/or electrical maintenance and repair work in an industrial environment; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.\n
Must have a good understanding of:\n\nEquipment functions and how they affect operations. \nChainsaw mechanics and maintenance.\nVarious types of automotive shop tools. \nAlignment, inspections and replacement of belts, couplings, bearings. \nLubricating machinery.\nPipe fitting principles, Glue, thread, and solder joints, compression and flare fittings.\nBasic fabrication techniques, cutting, welding.\nInspection of and repair\/rebuild or replacement of pumps, motors, gearboxes etc.\nAlignment of machinery to include couplings, and belts.\nKnowledge of the volt\/ohm meter, able to read voltages, check\/ replace fuses, repair lighting\nHow to read and interpret instructions, mechanical diagrams, plans and specifications. \n
