Water Resource Planning Engineer

Freese and Nichols has a great opportunity for a new or recent grad in our Water Resource Planning Group in Houston, Fort Worth, or Austin.  As a Water Resource Planning Engineer/Hydrologist I, you will assist in the identification, planning, evaluation, and development of future water needs and supplies for a range of public and private clients.  This work will include water demand analysis, supply reliability analysis, surface and groundwater modeling, project conceptualization and cost estimation, evaluation of environmental impacts, and client and stakeholder engagement.  Work will be conducted in a team environment under the direction of senior planners and engineers. 

Responsible for conducting analysis and developing technical reports for water resource planning projects. This work will include supply reliability analysis, surface and/or groundwater modeling, project conceptualization and cost estimation, evaluation of environmental impacts, climate resiliency, etc. Candidate must have educational or practical experience including but not limited to surface water and/or groundwater modeling, data analysis and programming, cost estimating, report preparation, and public presentations.   Candidate will work along with a team of senior professionals and should possess effective written and oral communication skills.  Attention to detail and the ability to effectively organize and execute work are essential.  

Qualifications

Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Biological, Agricultural Engineering, Water Resource Management, Hydrology, or similar degree EIT required

Preferred Qualifications 

Familiarity with integrated water resource planning concepts including the comprehensive management of water, wastewater, and stormwater resources Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or comparable engineering or applied science degree Familiarity with the Water Rights Analysis Package and the Texas Water Availability Models
