Job SummaryBlack & Veatch has an exciting opportunity for a Water Quality Sciences Technical Leader focused on ecosystem restoration, fluvial geomorphology, coastal systems and resilience throughout the United States. This leader will provide technical expertise and guidance to projects.
Black & Veatch is organized in four main sectors: 1) Government & Communities (G&C); 2) Technology, Commercial & Industrial (TCI); 3) Power Providers (PP); and 4) Fuels & Natural Resources (FNR). While the focus practice is associated with G&C sector clients, this position will support other sectors.
This technical leader will consult directly with new and existing clients to strategize and implement nature-based solutions to address climate adaptation and hazard mitigation, coastal and sea level rise strategies, and resilient infrastructure system solutions. This leader will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to guide the development of solutions for a variety of municipal, utility, state, and governmental clients.
Key Responsibilities Serve as subject matter expert for water quality sciences, with a focus on ecosystem restoration and nature-based solutions with a variety of government and private-sector clients Engage directly with new and existing clients to develop new business for BV Support client and stakeholder workshops Guide and review technical elements of nature-based solution planning and implementation efforts: ecosystem analysis, modeling, ecological restoration, limnology, biology, and characterization of ecosystem service benefits/values Provide thought leadership, engage with external community, and serve as a subject matter expert, bringing expertise with ecosystem restoration, limnology, fluvial geomorphology, coastal systems and resilience Engage with and guide the development of solutions/studies/projects Support mentorship and growth of the team to broaden capabilities Cultivate innovative partnerships to leverage new technologies and approaches Preferred Qualifications20+ years of experience in water quality sciences, with focus on ecosystem restoration, nature- based solutions, watershed management, water resource planning
Experience leading technical teams and serving client-facing roles
Demonstrated success in business development
Experience with approaches and tools to assess ecosystems
Experience in working with the regulatory agencies and their permitting functions
Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 5 years' experience performing duties similar to those of an Environmental Scientist 6.
