JOB SUMMARY:

The wastewater operator will oversee and maintain the treatment of wastewater to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. They will monitor and adjust equipment, perform routine inspections, and conduct tests to assess water quality. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing system malfunctions to main efficient operations. Additionally, the operator will maintain accurate records of processes and ensure safety protocols are strictly followed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform analyses, recording measurements/actions in applicable record logs.Recognize unusual, inefficient, or dangerous operating conditions and be able to take immediate actions.Able to troubleshoot and has a basic understanding of process flow and mechanical functions.Familiar with basic chemicals, chemical compounds, and reactions.Inspect equipment and perform routine cleaning/ preventive maintenance.Keep work area neat and organized.•  Monitor and regulate waste treatment discharge to align with all applicable regulations.•  Ability to keep working relationships, communicate effectively and work with minimum supervision.Experience in manufacturing environment for +1 year.Assist in the maintenance, repair, and replacement of motors, pumps, gearboxes, pulleys, belts, and other parts of the wastewater processPerform extensive and in-depth preventive maintenance inspections, checks, and servicesCurrent license in physical chemical wastewater treatment and desire to continue education to obtain higher license.Knowledge of process chemicals; dangers associated with safely handling hazardous chemicals.Solid understanding of operation, methods, and procedures of waste treatment.General arithmeticReach, grasp, lift 35 Ibs, and push/pull/slide heavy materialMake coordinated movements of the hands and arms to grasp and move objects.Stoop, bend, squat, crawl, and climb

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Physical/Chemical Wastewater – Class BAbility to become forklift & MEWP certifiedStrong computer, math, and reading skillsAbility to multi-task and adapt to an ever-changing environment and processesMust be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordinglyAbility to communicate with leadership and fellow team members in both written and verbal forms at a level above standardAbility to work from heights up to 45’ using fall protectionSouth Carolina Environmental Certification Board Wastewater Operator License

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Occasionally required to sit. Must frequently squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward. Ability to climb ladders, bend, and crawl in awkward spaces. Use of hands and fingers to grasp tools, supplies, and equipment (manual and finger dexterity). Must be able to frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs. on a continuous basis.  Ability to see details at a distance and at close range.

Environmental Demands: Indoors/Outdoors (extreme cold and/or heat); Frequent Task Changes, Tedious/Exacting Work, Dust, Temperature Extremes, Loud Noises. Occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such a petroleum product, degreasers, and spays. Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles.
