Warehouse Technician

Position Summary:  This position is primarily responsible for maintaining and operating assigned packaging (boxing, palletizing) and assembly machines, performing material handling tasks for scheduled jobs, and facility upkeep tasks to achieve the maximum production of good parts at the lowest cost per company goals.

Functions:

Keeps assigned machines filled with raw materials such as stacks of boxes, bags, labels and tape to keep machines running without interruption.Responds to all assigned machine stoppages to troubleshoot and then clear the line to get the machine back into production with minimal downtime.Performs assigned material handling tasks including: box handling, empty/full pallet handling, scrap bin and Gaylord handling as required.As assigned, will assist in monitoring and running the injection molding systems and notify the supervisor if issues arise outside the authority of position.Reviews production documents (quantity, weight and product identification) and compares to actual production to ensure completeness of orders per company procedures for national and international shipments.Properly label skids and move finished goods away from systems and onto trucks for shipment.Gather data and identify route causes for critical instances arising on assigned tasks.Responsible for completing system logs per company procedures for assigned tasks that require logging.Performs assigned 5S tasks including cleaning and inspection of the equipment and facility.Follows all manufacturing policies and procedures when performing duties.Adheres to all safety rules, procedures, and uses required safety equipment for assigned tasks.Immediately notifies supervisor for any issues that arise that cannot be overcome on a timely basis or ones that are not authorized to perform with all the facts.As assigned, performs authorized equipment changeovers.Ensures all settings are logged in.Quality-immediately communicates all quality issues to the supervisor.Perform assigned WIP quality inspections and maintains records including logging critical quality issues for assigned shift and separation of non-conforming materials.Provides part samples as required to the Quality Department for inspection and qualification.Preventative Maintenance, equipment, and system uptime: performs all assigned PM tasks in accordance to schedules for box makers, bag inserter, box closer, label maker, box conveyors, palletizer, Airtran and assembly systems.

Verifies assigned machinery is functioning properly and perform repair tasks.May be asked to coordinate work from other departments to perform PM or repairs for assigned machinery. Records downtime and route cause if available in logs for assigned machinery.Continuous Improvement: participate on improvement teams and perform assigned tasks for critical instance issues or improvement projects.Originate, gather and communicate ideas to improve output or lower costs for assigned department.As assigned, prepare or edit; procedures, checklists, meeting notes, data tables, data graphs and team presentations. Trainings: may assist in training of other personnel or departments as needed.Maintains a neat and orderly work area, keeping walkways and aisles clear. Performs general housekeeping duties such as sweeping and trash removal. When work in primary classification is not available, may perform other duties according to skill and availability.
