About the role

ROLE  DESCRIPTION:

The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day management, including receipt and disbursement, of the facility’s parts, materials and supplies as well as oversee the inventory control system. The Warehouse Supervisor will report to the Sr. Maintenance Manager.

The Warehouse Supervisor will also work closely with the Facility Buyer and facility management to ensure an adequate supply of necessary parts, materials, and safety supplies are available for ongoing facility needs.

Computer based inventory record keeping and manual inventory checks are also a necessary part of the  Warehouse Supervisor’s responsibilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Overall accountability for managing the receipt, dispatching, and storage of goods in the warehouseSupervise the work of receiving technician, monitoring performance and ensure the safe use of warehouse equipmentMaintain the inventory management system in Oracle Peoplesoft utilizing the barcode scanner for receipt and management of all inventory partsMaintain relationships with suppliers, while working very closely with the facility buyerEnsure that procured materials & services are requisitioned properly and that materials & services received meet all aspects of quality, safety, timeliness, and best value to the company - Shipping canceled and/or damaged items back to suppliers as appropriateResponsible for ensuring all parts and equipment are correctly received - including physically placing parts/equipment in the designated warehouse location, and that the inventory database reflects the correct bin locations of all parts and equipmentAudit and report inventory while making recommendations on which items to order and restock - ensure that spare parts are within established minimums & maximums.Maintain records of physical counts, receipts, adjustments, and returns to ensure accuracy of the facility’s inventory systemAssist with low value procurement activities maximizing usage of the P-Card.Continuous effort to optimize plant inventory items via:Min-max optimizationInventory sharing and coordination with other Covanta locationsSupplier inventory agreementsStandardize use of items where possibleThird party solutionsSale of obsolete and unusable itemsHandle additional administrative tasks as required

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

To be considered for this position, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent coupled with one to three years of related experience.

Experience:

Excellent understanding of warehouse management procedures, proficient knowledge of inventory and inventory controlsKnowledge of shipping/receiving is preferredPower plant experience and mechanic or materials management background is also preferredThree to five years of Supervisory experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must have the ability to operate the plant’s mobile equipment (e.g., forklift, light trucks) in a safe manner and in accordance with policy and procedure.Candidate must be highly organized and have good written and verbal communication skills.  Must possess skills in working within deadlines to complete projects or assignments, along with operating a computer utilizing a variety of business software. Ability to multi-task and focus on day-to-day details.  Skills in Microsoft programs, specifically Excel are necessary. Customer service oriented and excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to be responsive to plant upset conditions & provide support as needed.

Physical Requirements:

•            Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb

•            Ability to lift/carry 50lbs

•            Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces

•            Qualify to wear a full-face respirator

•            Consistently work in various weather conditions
