The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is actively seeking a Warehouse Specialist. This is clerical/skilled craft work in receiving, recording, storing and issuing materials, equipment and supplies and to include the layout, fabrication, and production of signs, banners, and related informational materials. The work requires knowledge of uninvolved standardized work routines and procedures used in warehousing and the fabrication of signs which involves the use of common equipment or uncomplicated machinery. Contacts require basic courtesy, tact and effectiveness in dealing with others, including contacts to request or provide information, ask questions or, obtain clarification. The work is fairly routine following established routines, standing instructions, and established procedures, but some variation in the sequence of procedures used is permitted based on situations encountered in the workplace. The work is normally performed in warehouse environment where the employee may work at heights of five feet or more above the floor or ground level and may come in contact with hazardous materials and equipment. Operates standard office and warehouse equipment to include personal computer using word, spreadsheet, database, and related software, large format printers, forklifts, and other equipment in issuing, moving and loading stored goods, equipment and materials, hand and power tools, lettering and painting tools. Operates a motor vehicle. The physical demands consist mainly of moving from one work location to another, sitting, or standing at a workstation for extended periods of time. May be required to lift various sized objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments are subject to instructions and established work routines, and the worker is given latitude to rearrange the sequence based on changing work situations or workflow. Examples of Work + Receives, records, unpacks, stores and issues a variety of store goods, equipment and materials. + Checks incoming goods, equipment and materials for quantity and quality against invoices or purchase orders, reporting discrepancies to supervisor. + Prepares and maintains a perpetual inventory system. + Establishes and maintains inventory records and files. + Assembles, packs and arranges for transport of stored goods, equipment and materials. + Responds to inquiries and requests by users to identify and order the appropriate goods, equipment, and materials. + Makes written reports and fills out forms, as required. + Traces and follows up on requisition orders. + Operates a motor vehicle. + Operates standard office and warehouse equipment to include personal computer using word, spreadsheet, database, and related software, large format printers, fork lifts, and other equipment in issuing, moving and loading stored goods, equipment and materials, hand and power tools, lettering and painting tools. + Lays out and letters banners, signs, and other materials, using general instructions, rough drafts, or final sketches to produce final product. + Hand routes signs using wood routing tools. + Fabricates and produces signs and related informational materials using large format printers. + Engraves small signs, nameplates, and related items. + Installs and maintains signs and banners. + Cleans and maintains assigned work area. + Picks up and/or delivers a variety of goods, equipment and materials. + May perform minor maintenance such as checking and adding oil, water, fuel and tire pressure, and reporting problems and needed repairs on assigned vehicles. + Demonstrates proficiency in the City of Jacksonville’s competencies. + Performs related work as required. Open Requirements/Supplemental Information OPEN REQUIREMENTS: + Ability to read, write and communicate in English. + Must have at least one year of warehousing or clerical experience involving the receiving and invoicing of goods, equipment, and materials. LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: + A valid driver’s license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class. + Must qualify for prior to appointment, obtain, and maintain during employment in this class a City of Jacksonville Certification as a Public Driver. + Dependent on assignment, may require Forklift Certification.
