Nature and Scope of the Role: The Global R&D Technical Groups operate across three locations (US-Decatur, US-Davis and Germany), and are dedicated to developing pioneering technological and science-based solutions that support our businesses worldwide, with a focus on advanced technologies, including enzyme and microbial biotechnologies, as well as our global analytical services.
The Vice President R&D Technical Groups is a distinguished senior scientist and proven leader, adept at steering diverse teams of PhDs and technicians within a multicultural, globally distributed and multifunctional environment. Reporting to the Senior Vice President and the Chief Science Officer of ADM, this executive assumes a pivotal role within the R&D leadership team.
The inspiring leader embodies a team-player mindset, combining scientific excellence, customer-oriented approach, and results-driven spirit. Leading by example, the VP R&D Technical Groups ensures alignment of R&D priorities with ADM’s overall strategy and business objectives.
Your role:Lead the strategic direction and provide visionary leadership for the R&D Technical Groups, maximizing value and synergies within the organization.Coordinate smooth interactions aligned with the R&D partners, and in agreement with needs of the businesses to drive the development of science-based solutions.Manage and develop the global biotechnology portfolio, supporting enzyme development and precision fermentation initiatives across the organization. Support business development opportunities through technical assistance, engagement with key customers, and ownership of technical due diligence for M&A projects as needed.Nurture talent, lead and supervise all R&D Technical Teams and global resources, and collaborate with key partners across geographies.Oversee the application and execution of the innovation process within the teams.Oversee R&D project operations and financial performance.Optimize internal core capabilities and outsourcing strategies, maintaining state-of-the-art scientific standards.Uphold safety standards across all locations, ensuring a safe working environment.Your profile:Advanced educational credentials at the PhD level, within Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or any related life sciences/technological field.Minimum of 10 years of experience in global executive management roles, leading research and development teams at a large multinational.Domain knowledge in Biotechnology.Proven track record of managing significant innovation projects linked to overall business strategy and leading high-performing teams.Poised and seasoned manager who understand the complexities and sensitivities of various operating business arrangements such as joint ventures, strategic alliances etc.Credible advocate with an upfront operating style who is a proven and trusted collaborator at all levels of management, including senior business management and interfaces effectively across all key partners and relevant internal & external stakeholders.Forward thinker who is adept at leveraging technology to improve functional effectiveness and efficiency.Ability to thrive in a challenging environment with multiple, changing, and competing priorities who can work under pressure as necessary.Our Offer:Challenging tasks, short decision-making processes and a high level of personal responsibility in a modern work environment.Room for innovative thinking and growth with the possibility to manage your own career path and development.An energizing company culture which promotes continuous learning and growth, diversity and inclusion.Excellent career opportunities in an established world leading nutrition company.An attractive remuneration package, including a variety of social and welfare benefits like subsidized health & retirement plans & physical and mental wellbeing programs.Excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement listed?
