VP of Manufacturing

We have a current opening for a Vice President of Manufacturing! This position is open in Sacramento, CA or Dallas, TX. The manufacturing department at Royal is integral to the success of our overall operations. Within the department we prefabricate electrical and underground installations in a safe, productive and ergonomic environment that can be easily and efficiently integrated on to the project sites. Our manufacturing teams coordinate closely with our field operations leaders to innovate and produce prefabricated materials as and when needed. Our manufacturing department is also responsible for training our future workforce, developing crew members from prefab technicians into electricians, estimators and project managers. This role will lead, develop and grow our manufacturing capabilities across the company and our geographic regions. Typical areas of responsibility will include: Manufacturing Facility & Production + Responsible for the layout, equipment and tooling for our existing facility in California and establishment of a new facility in Texas + Design and maintain work areas focusing on safety, ergonomics and efficiency + Develop, implement, and monitor safe operating procedures and safety programs within the department, and stay current with changes in the legal and regulatory environment + Manage the forecasting, purchase, maintenance and utilization of manufacturing, equipment and tools + Develop vendor and partner relationships that impact manufacturing materials and processes + Incorporates the organizational strategy and plans for operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control within our manufacturing departments + Attend manufacturing seminars and build relationships in our industry to benchmark our progress and direction to educate and stay up to date on new items + Implement long term plans for facilities, equipment, materials, technology, and workforce resources to maintain manufacturing capacity and processes Team Structure & Development + Create department structure in each facility that supports operational needs as we grow + Coach and develop key leaders and high potential team members to grow in their careers + Utilize prefab tech program to fully staff department, identify future electrical workers for pipelining future field talent + People management includes interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, and performance reviews + Hold team accountable for operating safely, wearing all appropriate PPE, following safety guidelines + Participate in overall company leadership meetings, communicate company initiatives and culture within the manufacturing department Process & Workflows + Ensure written work processes and standard operating procedures are developed, trained, reviewed, updated and fully followed by the manufacturing team + Integrate with our operations teams in our proven process for winning, planning and building work + Refine the process the field teams utilize to order manufacturing items, including tracking and status transparency of orders to field teams + Ensure the manufacturing team is building the orders timely and correctly and implement an overall quality control/quality assurance process in the facilities + Develop scheduling process for prefabrication department that meets project delivery needs and allows for leveling of manpower in the manufacturing shop + Monitor production metrics to maximize operational effectiveness and develop KPI’s to evaluate impact on productivity for each department + Develop budget to support the functional infrastructure. This includes material usage, labor and overhead + Develop a consistent feedback loop from operations so the manufacturing team can share best practices, lessons learned with other projects, and continue to innovate and expand manufacturing capabilities Lean Implementation + Ensure quality, safety and efficiency through full implementation of Lean Principles + 5S implementation including time studies, identifying waste of material time and rework + Develop new ideas and methods to improve operational performance and improve product quality and customer satisfaction Facilitate department growth to achieve goal for total field manhours + Engage with field operations to proactively identify new prefab opportunities by understanding projects and field needs, including visiting project sites + Internally promote, educate and share wins with field operations on prefab capabilities and efficiencies + Analyze data and metrics that promote continuous improvement for the department Requirements Education & Experience: + Ten (10) years of relevant work experience in manufacturing management + Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience Required Skills & Abilities: + Strong attention to detail, including regular follow up on action items. Team player with the ability to work in fast paced environment, handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines + Proven leadership experience as change agent utilizing solid project management skills with continuous improvement and boots-on-the-ground approach + Proficient in software applications, including Microsoft Office Programs, including, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, as well as other databases, systems and software programs that are commonly utilized + Excellent oral and written communications, including presentation skills + Excellent interpersonal and time management skills as well as a high degree of sound judgment, discretion, and initiative + A sense of urgency, flexibility, adaptability to constant change, follow through, and an attitude of service, cooperation, quality and continuous improvement in work processes and output + Principals and techniques, methods, tools, supplies, and materials applicable to construction Salary Range: $180,000/year - $220,000/year + This is an exempt position We offer competitive wages plus benefits and 401(k).
