VP Cyber Chief Technical Officer

This Chief Technical Officer Cyber-Vice President position will have technical oversight over a team of 17 adjusters and 2 data analysts. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct responsibility for a select number of complex, severe or systemic cyber claims.  Prepare and present repeatable training which builds upon the technical proficiency of the entire cyber claims discipline on topics encompassing legal issues, coverage, service and compliance.  Act as the cyber claims liaison to underwriting partners reporting on claim trends, large losses, emerging risks and policy language refinement. Through these interactions, ensure the claims handling approach is in line with underwriting intent. Overall responsibility for CAT claim handling, including negotiating vendor contracts and ensuring sufficient capacity is in place for all vendors in the event of a CAT.  Serve as primary claim resource for underwriting/product management leadership in new product/endorsement drafting and review, and provide guidance and direction to manager, supervisors and/or examiners regarding same. Broker and insured outreach including marketing visits, and/or market brand initiatives. Participate in industry seminars (as warranted). Interface with actuaries and underwriting and assist in analysis and preparation of analytical/trending reports/presentations for discussion with actuaries, underwriting, tower lead and/or senior leadership (EWS or Watchlists, pipeline, etc.); In collaboration with tower lead, identify and establish criteria for tracking, handling/coring and oversight of systemic or quasi-systemic type claims; cross border claims. Ensure consistency of claim handling and policy interpretation. Review second level coverage challenges per coverage challenge protocols. Provide technical claims handling oversight and guidance to cyber adjusters.  In conjunction with tower lead, oversight of data analytics team to ensure a global data collection policy is in place, and necessary data is timely, accurately and consistently captured.  Liaison with vendor management team to ensure vendor panel is up to date, onboard new vendors and identify any vendor issues.

Qualifications:

Strong cyber and professional liability background, with compliance and regulatory experience.  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education; Juris Doctorate preferred.  Designations from CPCU, SCLA, AIC, etc. are preferred. Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities. Minimum of 7-10 years of cyber/professional liability claims handling experience. Extensive coverage/contract knowledge. Strong analytical and investigative skills. Technical competencies in coverage application, litigation, and contractual relationships. Superior verbal and written communication skills, including large-group presentation skills.  Articulate in both written and oral communication. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate and maintain business relationships with a wide spectrum of people both internally and externally.

The pay range for the role is $128,500 to $215,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
