VP Chief Data and AI Officer

The Vice President, Chief Data and AI Officer (CDAIO) is the system services executive responsible for aligning data, AI, and internal and external development initiatives and administration with relevant regulatory, technologic and digital growth mandates. Serves as the key stakeholder in the planning of the broader enterprise digital strategic planning process and create alignment of analytic/development strategies within the different business units. Partners with Inova’s senior leadership to establish strategic vision and develop corporate strategy as it relates to the use, analysis, and distribution of data/information across the continuum of care.

Vice President, Chief Data and AI Officer Job Responsibilities

Develops, maintains, and communicates Inova’s enterprise data and analytics, data science, artificial intelligence, and technical development vision, strategy, and roadmap, revising on an annual basis in line with Inova’s strategic planning process. Sponsors strategic data and analytics and data related development projects (e.g., predictive analytics) to ensure Inova stays at the forefront of technological and analytic advancements in the support of Inova’s vision. In partnership with the EVP, CIDO, identify and enact strategies for alignment of data and analytics and data management priorities within the broader organization strategic planning process. Responsible for advising and developing strategies for the use of business intelligence, analytics, and dashboard development across Inova Health, in partnership with Information Systems and other business unit leaders. Partners with senior leaders of the organization to ensure ongoing development and implementation of online related services and key interoperability efforts, both process and outcomes, necessary to further Inova’s vision of being the best place to work, practice medicine, and receive care. Oversee emerging technology identification and technical business development for the health system and play a key role in technology evaluation to support sustainable pipelines for partnership. Provides strategic oversight for the Enterprise Data Warehouse staff, all Inova Health analytic professionals, Data Science and AI professionals, the Data Governance and usage program. Partners with IT and line of business leadership on the identification and selection of products and tools to support the analytic and online service needs of the organization. Establish the methodologies to deliver external facing commercial development for technology capabilities Inova Health may choose to bring to market. Provides mandatory training for staff. Maintains safe work environment and addresses deficiencies. Reviews safety policies and procedures. Adheres to ergonomic principles. In conjunction with Buildings/Facility Services, directs, monitors and participates in safety and fire in-services/inspections. Ensures follow through and compliance with safety regulations as it relates to outside inspections. Develops, implements and scales data analytics initiatives, including predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and data visualization. Collaborates and communicates complex analytics results to internal and external stakeholders and decision-makers, using visualization tools and presentations.

10 years of related professional experience 3 years of management experience Bachelor's degree

Proven leadership in defining and executing unified data strategies, including establishing governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH), and driving enterprise-wide data integration and accessibility to support informed decision-making. Expertise in developing and implementing advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and automation strategies, with a focus on predictive analytics, personalized medicine, and operational efficiency improvements. Strong track record of fostering a data-driven culture by promoting data literacy, collaborating with cross-functional leaders, and aligning data initiatives with organizational goals to enhance clinical, financial, and operational outcomes. Experience in modernizing data infrastructure, overseeing scalable and secure data platforms, and leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enable real-time analytics while maintaining rigorous data security and privacy standards.
