The Role
The VP, Head of Total Rewards will be a vital part of the company’s ongoing transformation and growth. This role will have critical responsibilities to develop and lead the company’s total reward strategy.
This role reports to the CHRO and a key member of the Deluxe Senior HR Leadership Team. This role will be responsible for the overall, end to end leadership of a comprehensive total rewards strategy, philosophy across all aspects of compensation, well-being, and ensuring the flawless delivery through payroll operations and equity administration. The role will also be accountable for leading our compensation programs and planning across executive compensation, broad-based programs inclusive of pay equity in addition to sales commission planning. This role has a great deal of positive impact on business growth/innovation and providing thought leadership and best practice research for all facets of the employee life cycle. Incumbent in this role will possess proven leadership both as a strategic partner to the business and operational management given the breadth of the role. The leader in this role will be involved in the preparation and responsible, in part, for the interactions with the Compensation & Talent Committee of the Board of Directors.
The role will be expected to partner closely with Talent team to drive a high-performance culture through leading practices in performance management and rewards. The leader of this team will strategically develop reward and recognition programs that drive engagement and create a deeper connection to our One Deluxe vision. In addition, some of the key responsibilities of this leadership role and team are:
+ Develop and lead the Company's comprehensive Total Rewards strategy leveraging compelling and equitable compensation and benefits programs that will attract and retain talent.
+ Provide strong leadership in the areas of compensation, including equity administration, well-being and benefits, payroll operations -- inspiring human resources professionals to elevated levels of performance and productivity.
+ Provide leadership of innovative solutions related to all aspects of rewards and recognition, well-being benefits and driving performance through a simplified, strategic, and data-driven approach.
+ Complete the design, evaluation, and implementation of progressive, cost effective, and competitive group health, welfare, and retirement plans in the U.S., Canada and India.
+ Responsible to prepare recommendations in partnership with external consultants and internal key stakeholders on the design and development of the materials for the board’s Compensation and Talent Committee on executive compensation and all pay programs. Presents materials in a clear and concise manner.
+ Responsible for the annual compensation planning process, including, but not limited, to base salary, bonus, short and long-term incentives, and all related communications and administration.
+ Responsible for the payroll function across the U.S., Canada and India ensuring proper and timely processing, meeting all compliance requirements and effectively managing vendors.
+ Manage the stock administration (equity) process and team, ensuring timely and compliant processing of equity including quarter end, year end and audit reporting requirements.
+ Partner with finance to understand, accrue, and report all total rewards cost information.
Professional Experience and Qualifications
The leader in this role will bring both technical expertise in the domains of total rewards, executive and broad-based compensation, stock administration, sales incentive plan designs, well-being benefits, pay equity, payroll operations and related compliance requirements. It will be essential for the leader in this role to build trust and respect through listening, empathy, approachability, and authenticity. The individual must possess strong business acumen, exceptional communication skills and ability to influence individuals and teams to drive change. The best description is that of a “player-coach” to simultaneously think and act strategically while actively doing the work with the team on the field. The individual in this role will need to identify leading and proven practices from research and move beyond the theoretical to put practices into action with thoughtful readiness plans. We are seeking, an active personally engaged practitioner.
Other Qualifications:
+ 10+ years of professional experience in total rewards
+ Proven record of leading subject matter expert teams, external consultants and operations
+ Demonstrated understanding and proven experience in what it takes to support a transformation and driving organizational/behavioral change.
+ Delivered best practices in all facets of the total regards function: compensation/pay (executive, sales, broad-based plans), stock administration, evolving benefits and well-being programs, existing and emerging compliance and regulatory matters, and payroll operations.
+ Possesses courage of conviction with the willingness to oversee challenging decisions in transitioning a business to a new model for success. Exudes humble confidence and a level of situational self-awareness to listen, take advice and foster a culture of continued innovation.
+ Well-versed on federal, state laws and governance as it relates to pay, with proven ability to thoughtfully integrate compliance into daily activities at all levels of the organization and in core processes.
+ Ability to travel 20-30% and work from the office as their primary location.

Education
+ Bachelor’s degree in Finance, HR or related discipline; Master’s in HR/OD or MBA preferred.
Base Pay Range
$260,000-$290,000
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. This role provides for a matrixed compensation package, including annual salary, bonus and equity.
