The Role
The VP, Head of Talent role will be a vital part of the company’s ongoing transformation and growth. This role will have critical responsibilities to get the right talent in the right roles, solidify bench strength and succession, while attracting future talent and developing all employees at Deluxe, referred to as Deluxers.
This role reports to the CHRO and a key member of the Deluxe Senior HR Leadership Team. This role will be responsible for the overall, end to end leadership of a comprehensive talent strategy from talent acquisition through talent management, performance management and leadership development. The role will also be accountable for leading our community efforts, including the Deluxe Foundation. This role has significant positive impact on business growth/innovation and providing thought leadership and best practice research for all facets of the employee life cycle. Candidates for this role will possess proven leadership, both as a strategic partner to the business and operational management given the breadth of the role.
The role will provide leadership oversight to the core talent processes: talent management, talent acquisition, performance management, leadership development, succession planning, organizational design, capability building, including learning and development. The selected candidate will identify common talent needs across the organization to ensure talent strategies align with business strategies – and ensure Deluxe has a disciplined process from recruitment to development to retention of one of our most important assets, our people.
The role will be expected to partner closely with Total Rewards team to drive a high-performance culture through leading practices in performance management and rewards. The leader of this team will strategically develop key initiatives and programs that drive engagement, future capabilities and create a deeper connection to our One Deluxe vision. In addition, some of the key responsibilities of this leadership role and team are:
Serve as a thought leader by developing key performance indicators and workforce analytics to provide insight and perspective to leadership and work in a collaborative way to monitor performance and anticipate potential talent gaps.Provide strong leadership in the areas of recruitment, performance, organizational, training, and development, inspiring human resources professionals to elevated levels of performance and productivity.Provide leadership of innovative solutions related to employee engagement, leadership assessments, training, development, and performance management, driving increased performance through a simplified, strategic, and data-driven approach.Responsible for company’s performance management and rewards system that retains, motivates, and rewards a high-performance workforce at all levels. Build specific engagement programs with existing company-wide resources, including recognition programs, talent development programs, career progression mapping and more.Responsible to internally build a specific talent development curriculum using existing company resources focused on early career, mid-career, and senior leadership.Responsibility to lead our internal placement efforts in additional to developing/executing our external recruitment strategies, including employer brand in the marketplace. The selected candidate must have experience leading a team of highly engaged recruiting professionals, identifying best practices focusing on the breadth of our recruiting efforts – hiring across high-volume roles to highly specialized, niche skills sets.Professional Experience and Qualifications
The leader in this role will bring both technical expertise in talent and organizations: talent attraction and recruitment, talent management, performance management, organizational effectiveness, engagement, learning and development. It will be essential for the leader in this role to build trust and respect through listening, empathy, approachability, and authenticity. The individual must possess strong business acumen, exceptional communication skills and able to influence individuals and teams to drive change. The best description is that of a “player-coach” to simultaneously think and act strategically while actively doing the work with the team on the field. The individual in this role will need to identify leading and proven practices from research and move beyond the theoretical to put practices into action with thoughtful readiness plans. We are seeking an active, personally engaged practitioner.
Other Qualifications:
10+ years of professional experience in progressive HR roles with technical domain expertise in the areas described.Proven record of leading recruiting and talent acquisition operations.Demonstrated understanding and proven experience in what it takes to support a transformation and driving organizational / behavioral change.Delivered best practices in all facets of the talent function: talent development and succession planning, talent acquisition, performance management, organizational change and integration, talent retention and engagement.Expertise across a broad spectrum of HR disciplines and tools. Comprehensive knowledge and leadership of diverse HR functions, and preferably HR business partner experience at a strategic level.Possesses courage of conviction with the willingness to oversee challenging decisions in transitioning a business to a new model for success. Exudes humble confidence and a level of situational self-awareness to listen, take advice and foster a culture of continued innovation.Well-versed on federal and state employment laws and HR compliance with proven ability to thoughtfully integrated HR compliance into daily activities at all levels of the organization.Ability to travel 20-30% and work from the office as their primary location.Key Characteristics:

Bachelor’s degree in HR / related discipline; Master’s in HR/OD or MBA preferred.Base Pay Range
$260,000-$290,000
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. This role provides for a matrixed compensation package, including annual salary, bonus and equity.
