Volunteer Goals and Objectives
To support the Activities Team by helping plan and carry out enrichment activities for residents, contributing to their quality of life and overall wellness.

Assist in setting up and cleaning up after group activities Help transport residents to and from activities Provide companionship and one-on-one visits with residents Distribute mail, newspapers, and refreshments (with staff assistance) Support residents during activities by calling games and offering encouragement Hand out prizes and help staff with activity supplies Select volunteers may provide animal-assisted therapy visits, per policySchedule
Flexible hours based on volunteer availability and program needs
Most volunteer shifts are scheduled weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Schedule to be arranged with the Activities Director.
Supervision
Volunteers report to the Activities Supervisor or designated facility staff.
Onboarding & Requirements
Once a volunteer position is accepted, the Finger Lakes Health recruitment team will schedule a criminal background check through the New York State Department of Health, along with a pre-placement physical and drug screening. After successfully completing these requirements, volunteers must complete computer-based learning modules in the Human Resources office before beginning their first shift.
Prior to starting, all volunteers will receive training on facility guidelines, including infection control protocols. The Activities Team will communicate any changes to the volunteer schedule.
