The Vocational Support Specialist (VSS) plays a vital role in providing comprehensive on/off-site training, skill development, and employment support for clients. As a VSS, you will conduct instructional activities, facilitate career planning, and assist with job retention efforts. Your responsibilities will include locating job sites, liaising with employers, conducting job site analyses, and ensuring compliance with necessary reporting and paperwork.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain knowledge of disabilities and assistive technologies to support clients' goalsContribute to and implement individualized service plans for skill development and career planningCoordinate paid work-based learning experiences, job orientation, and timesheetsTransport and support clients in carrying out individualized service plan objectivesMonitor progress, ensure service authorizations, and track service utilizationComplete required reporting and documentationFacilitate pre-vocational, vocational, social, and independent living skill developmentEstablish community-based sites for skill development and career planning activitiesProvide on-site job support, accommodations, and natural support facilitationEducate employers on hiring individuals with disabilities and job accommodationsCoordinate off-site job supports, benefits planning, transportation, and essential servicesImplement long-term employment success strategies through Extended Services PlansRespond to crisis situations at worksitesMaintain contact with referral sources and identify potential referralsTeach job-seeking and job retention skillsCreate employer relationships and develop competitive, integrated employment opportunitiesAdvocate for clients and promote the organization's services

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in an applicable field preferredExperience in rehabilitation, employment services, case management, social services, or related fields preferred

Successful completion of background checks, including criminal record, driving record, and abuse/neglectCompletion of New Hire Orientation and Relias Learning training requirementsCurrent CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtainValid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and current auto insuranceReliable means of transportation to transport clientsAbility to frequently sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, and stoopAbility to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsClose vision and ability to adjust focus
