Yes If Temporary, enter End Date: 05/31/2025 Position Summary SUNY Cortland is accepting applications for a temporary, one year appointment, full-time visiting assistant professor to teach and assess learning in college courses; 12 credit hours (4 courses) per semester. Fall courses will include Introduction to Sociology. Spring semester courses could also include sociology or criminology courses reflective of the successful applicants area of expertise. Major Responsibilities The successful candidate will maintain regular office hours as required and regular interaction with students from SUNY Cortland’s diverse campus community in support of the university’s efforts to ensure that students learn in an environment that actively promotes a culture of inclusive excellence. Functional and Supervisory Relationships Works under the direct supervision of the department chairperson. Works closely with the department chairperson, faculty and staff within the department. Additional working relationships with faculty and staff in other college departments. Required Qualifications Ph.D. or ABD in Sociology or related field required. Experience as an instructor of record or teaching assistant in content related area. Preferred Qualifications Experience or training in any of the following: quantitative methods, medical sociology, or substantive critical criminology electives.
