Job Description

The Mid-Senior Video Editor will be responsible for leading the video editing process for a variety of projects, including but not limited to commercials, corporate videos, and online content. They will work closely with the creative team to bring concepts to life through visual storytelling, and will have a strong understanding of the technical aspects of video production and post-production.

 

Key Responsibilities & Abilities
 

Leading the video editing process from concept to final deliveryCollaborating with the creative team to bring concepts to life through visual storytelling (i.e. breaking down shoots into shot lists with proposals of movement, shot size and angle)Advising production on technicalities (i.e. what is possible at various stages of the edit process)Mentoring junior editorsEnsuring all videos meet the highest technical and creative standardsStaying up-to-date with the latest video editing techniques and softwareOffline edit buildingKnowledge of Online requirements and handoversBeing on set to look out for continuity between shotsAbility to give creative input/directionAbility to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentAbility to be solutions oriented and solve problems as they arise in collaboration with the rest of the production/creative team (this includes anything from visual issues to timing plans, with a good balance of flexibility and rigidity)

 

QualificationsMinimum 6 years’ experience as a video editor, with a portfolio of work to showcaseExpertise in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects. Davinci Resolve operation is advantageousBasic rotoscoping/Advanced masking skills are vitalStrong understanding of the technical aspects of video production and post-productionExcellent storytelling, verbal and written communication skillsDegree or Diploma in film, television, or a related field is preferred however tertiary education in other fields will be considered.On-set editing experience, as well as having basic camera operation knowledge is a bonus.
