Vice President of Medical Group Operations

Job Summary:

The Vice President (VP) of Medical Group Operations provides strategic leadership and oversight for the operations, performance, and growth of a multi-specialty medical group. This executive is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, financial sustainability, patient satisfaction, and high-quality care delivery. The VP collaborates with physicians, administrative leaders, and stakeholders to drive excellence in clinical and business operations while aligning with the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Leadership & Growth

Develop and execute operational strategies that enhance the efficiency and performance of the medical group. In alignment with the overall system strategic objectives, lead the expansion of services, physician recruitment, and new practice acquisitions to drive growth. Ensure alignment with the health system’s overall strategic plan, mission, and financial goals.

 

Operational & Financial Management

Oversee the daily operations of the medical group, ensuring optimal resource utilization and workflow efficiency. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for financial, operational, and clinical outcomes. Drive cost-effective practices while maintaining high standards of patient care and service. Work closely with finance teams to develop and manage budgets, revenue cycle processes, and reimbursement strategies.

 

Physician & Provider Relations

Foster strong relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical teams to enhance engagement and collaboration. Develop initiatives to improve physician satisfaction, retention, and leadership development. Partner with medical directors to ensure best practices in clinical care delivery and operational efficiency.

 

Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in business administration.  Master’s degree in business administration or health administration, desired. Minimum of ten (10) years related experience with progressive responsibilities of which three (3) years are at senior management.  Healthcare experience preferred.
