**Vice President of Engineering, Compute and Ecosystem**
**SF, Denver, NYC or Remote US**

At Fastly, our technology and expertise spans from front-end web development down through the Linux kernel. Fastly’s edge cloud platform offers many innovative developer oriented products.
We are looking for a VPE to lead the teams of highly skilled engineers that work on many of our developer offerings, such as our innovative edge Compute environment, the languages and compilers for edge compute, edge state data stores, observability products, developer experience, and generally growing the capabilities, scalability, and resilience of the platform.
In particular, Fastly’s Compute product is enabling customers to develop highly performant and secure edge applications, while using tools and languages they’re comfortable with. At the core of our technology is WebAssembly, and we are committed to its open development through the Bytecode Alliance.
You’ll work closely with other teams in product management and engineering to deliver high velocity H2 products that enable our customers to build online experiences that are fast, safe, and engaging.
**What You’ll Do**
+ Lead the engineering teams responsible for Fastly’s edge computing platform and other new products
+ Partner with product management and program management to prioritize and plan the overall edge compute strategy and plan
+ Guide the design and implementation of an efficient, resilient platform
+ Collaborate with peers working on UI/UX, Customer Success, and Operations, among others, to grow the platform
+ Mentor and provide regular feedback to engineers in the team on design, architecture, development, quality, and career development
+ Recruit and hire software engineers and managers as needed
+ Stay close to the systems and code the team is producing
+ Establish continuous improvement with the teams to drive both safety and speed
+ Deliver tools and documentation to engineers on other teams, and training and supporting them as they use those tools to improve their own projects.

+ Capable of crafting metrics, iterating on measurement, and motivating change
+ High emotional intelligence
We value a variety of voices and experience, so this is not a laundry list. You’ll be a good candidate if you have experience working on SOME of these:
+ Products for developers and/or enterprise software
+ A software product through first release to scale
+ Software with high availability requirements
+ High performance, large scale, or global multi-tenant systems
+ Software platforms (e.g. operating systems, browsers, compilers, game platforms)
+ Rust, or some of the languages that influenced the design of Rust
**Work Hours**
This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

Fastly uses a hybrid or remote model. Hybrid employees (within commute distance of an office) typically work in the office 2-4 days a week.

**Salary**
The estimated salary range for this position is $296,544 to $370,680.
Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
