Job Description

The Vice President provides operational and strategic leadership for Advanced Practice Providers and Ambulatory Nursing across Children’s Physician Group and Centers. The Vice President functions as the primary resource in advanced practice and ambulatory nursing operations related to recruitment, retention, scope of practice, utilization, collaborative practice and staffing models, credentialing, regulatory and compliance, etc. They are responsible for creating and supporting processes that support care across the continuum from acute to ambulatory care, which improve clinical efficiencies, throughput, and comprehensive patient care needs. The position reports to the COO, CPG with dotted line reporting relationships to Chief, CPG and Chief Nursing Officer.

Experience

10 years’ experience in clinical operations, healthcare management, nursing administrationExperience leading and building a strong proven clinical organization and infrastructureExperience building and maintaining partnerships between clinical and non-clinical stakeholdersExperience in overseeing multiple functions with track record of leading successful strategic plan development and implementation

Preferred Qualifications

PhD or Doctorate in Nursing MBA or MHAGraduate of an accredited Physician’s Assistant program

Education

MSN from an accredited School of Nursing

Certification Summary

Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact AND Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the state of Georgia OR licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of GeorgiaCertification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANP), Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) OR Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hirePediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 60 days of hire for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants working in Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Anesthesia, Hematology/Oncology, and Critical Care (Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants working in Neonatology may provide NRP certification in lieu of PALS)

Job Responsibilities

Set strategic vision and workforce priorities for advanced practice providers and ambulatory nursing and align with system strategic plan.Collaborate with Chief physicians, Vice Presidents of Nursing, CPG and Center leadership, CMO and CNO in meeting quality and strategic goals.Set measurable strategic, quality, and financial metrics.Maintain adherence to regulatory, licensing, and compliance requirements.Ensure collaboration with Children’s, Physician Group leadership, providers, and clinical educator team to provide clinical orientation training, competency assessment, and professional development programs.Set advanced practice and ambulatory nursing clinical practice standards.Monitor operations excellence metrics for areas of responsibility (retention, engagement, etc.).Ensure safe and effective patient care.Develop and implement strategy to achieve ongoing growth in providers enabling immediate and critical rightsizing.Drive development of innovative care models to achieve ongoing growth in providers and productivity of APPs that demonstrates top of license practice and leads to increased access and improved quality.Provide leadership to APPs practicing throughout the enterprise through excellent management, coaching, and mentoring to professional development of the APPs in concert with the organizational mission, values, and goals.Partner with human resources and medical staff services to ensure that policies and procedures regarding hiring, credentialing and privileging, compensation and performance appraisals/competencies are implemented.Responsible for clinical resource management and strategies to meet staffing needs and financial plan.Recruit and retain strong talent.Closely monitor industry workforce trends, state and federal legislation, accrediting organizations, etc. and provide recommendations and action plans to inform and guide organizational strategic decision making.
