The Vice President of Third-Party Risk Strategy within GSM leads a global team of professionals that define first line of defense Third-Party Risk Management (“TPRM”) program standards in support of the company’s third-party management policy (AEMP 10). **Key Responsibilities of This Role Include:**
+ Works with Risk SMEs to define standards for third-party risk assessment questions, risk scoring logic, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring expectations.
+ Leads a centralized Quality Assurance program that measures and reports on TPRM program execution across Global Supply Management and other American Express business units.
+ Defines metrics that measure the TPRM program’s health, trends and watchlist criteria.
+ Evaluates changes to the global regulatory landscape which affect third-party risk and assesses potential impacts to the TPRM program.
+ Identifies emerging risks and defines necessary TPRM program changes to address them.
**Candidate Requirements:**
+ Previous experience in a risk/control related field is required. E.g., Third-Party Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Compliance, or Audit.
+ Strong Strategic Thinker: Ability to understand industry trends and TPRM best practices for large, highly-regulated Banks; anticipates emerging risks that have impact on the TPRM program.
+ Effective Influencer: Effectively manages a large and diverse set of internal and external stakeholders across AXP business units and the three lines of defense. Brings others along through active listening and soliciting feedback.
+ Bias Towards Action: Ability to steer program stakeholders and leaders to make informed and timely decisions and removes barriers to forward progress.
+ Clear Communicator: Comfortable communicating at multiple levels of the organization including to senior management, risk management committees, and regulators, but also to junior staff members and front-line colleagues responsible for TPRM program execution.
+ Demonstrates Courage: Has a well-informed and credible opinion and speaks up to challenge the status quo. Remains calm and composed amidst stressful situations and leads by example.
+ Proven people leader: Consistent track record of people leadership, both in building high performing teams, as well as creating followership. Experience leading across global markets and time zones is a plus.
