Vice President, Strategic Sourcing
Job Description

Job Summary

The Vice President, Strategic Sourcing is responsible for setting the organization's contracting and procurement strategy for more than $3 billion in annual spend across products, services, and equipment. This executive-level role provides strategic leadership in sourcing, contract management, supplier relationships, and spend optimization to align with long-term business objectives. The Vice President oversees the Strategic Sourcing team and collaborates with internal stakeholders, clinical and operational leaders, and external vendor partners to drive standardization, maximize contract coverage, and improve supply expense performance. This position serves as the organization's primary liaison to the Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) and leads enterprise-wide sourcing initiatives that support cost savings, compliance, and operational excellence.

Essential Functions

Develops and executes enterprise-wide sourcing and contracting strategies that support organizational goals, enhance value, and reduce supply expense across categories, including medical devices, purchased services, food services, and facilities. Leads the Strategic Sourcing team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, continuous improvement, and performance accountability. Owns the business relationship with the Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), ensuring compliance with negotiated contracts and alignment with overall sourcing strategy. Oversees vendor relationships and governance structures; evaluates supplier performance and resiliency; and identifies opportunities for improved pricing, utilization, and technology adoption. Conducts contract negotiations, leveraging subject matter experts when appropriate, and ensures favorable terms, risk mitigation, and compliance with organizational policies and legal standards. Utilizes category management principles and data analytics to manage total spend and drive sourcing decisions that account for cost drivers, conversion costs, and long-term financial impact. Collaborates with stakeholders including Legal, Finance, Clinical, and Regional leadership to build consensus around strategic sourcing initiatives and refine enterprise sourcing strategies. Monitors and manages supply chain performance metrics, ensuring alignment with operational performance goals and identifying areas for cost savings and operational efficiency. Supports Supply Chain senior leadership in executing business plans that minimize overall costs and maximize value to the organization. Drafts and presents sourcing strategies and business cases to key stakeholders across clinical, financial, and executive teams. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related field required Master's Degree preferred 7-9 years of strategic sourcing or healthcare supply chain experience required Demonstrated success in managing high-value supplier relationships and complex contract negotiations required Experience with purchased services, IT, or facilities and infrastructure contracting preferred Corporate or multi-hospital system experience preferred ERP experience (Oracle) and familiarity with GHX and healthcare GPOs preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Deep understanding of strategic sourcing, category management, and contract lifecycle management in a healthcare setting Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure ethical and compliant procurement practices Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation, including identifying business and legal language nuances, applying leverage, mitigating risk, and anticipating market trends Ability to adapt to changing market dynamics and organizational needs, demonstrating resilience and sound judgment in uncertain environments Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and build consensus across clinical, financial, legal, and operational areas
