Vice President, Strategic Solutions, Group Squad Leader

The Role

Do you want to make a difference and be part of a highly collaborative, cross-functional team within our Enterprise Technology business unit (BU) committed to enhancing and digitizing Fidelity’s operating ecosystem? 

We are looking for an Advanced Process Solutions (APS) Vice President of Strategic Solutions and Group Squad Leader, who will blend digital servicing and automation expertise with a passion for delivering results – driving seamless, integrated, and re-usable solutions providing positive impact in our customer servicing ecosystem.

In an Agile format and structure, you will partner with other leaders to influence broader strategic decisions and roadmaps, set the mission, and bring squads together to execute towards business outcomes – with a focus on anti-digital reduction – while ensuring respective active solutions are available, stable, performant, and supported and related cost and maintenance is managed. You will ensure alignment on the 'what' and 'when' of the work performed by the squads through ongoing planning and prioritization, to enable the squad to work iteratively, innovate when appropriate, celebrate successes, and learn from failures.

You will develop & align a unified solution backlog to Enterprise Technology (ET), APS and Business Unit (BU) partner business strategies and outcomes, in partnership with ET and BU technology and functional leaders as needed. You will manage squads that deliver towards critical APS products and programs. You will have oversight of the full solution delivery lifecycle and manage dependencies, determine how to organize scrum of scrum teams, and create clear accountability at the product level. You will maintain a comprehensive view of the initiatives and related automation solutions and understand the complex ecosystem underlying delivery. You will also be committed to maintaining and developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role. Your responsibilities include:

Managing Squad Leaders focused on delivery of solutions and associated capabilities and features to strategic business unit partners. Maintaining & executing the engagement model with business unit sponsors & partners – ranging from large to small businesses, along with APS product leaders and owners Overseeing and owning strategic solution pipeline development, including actionable opportunities with new APS business partners Defining, refining, and communicating the team's mission to squad members and business partners to empower and rally support. Anticipating, discovering, and prioritizing business unit solution needs to serve as the voice of project sponsors and guide execution of the squad. Measuring performance through established critical metrics and deliver agreed upon business, technology, and people results. Partnering with technology and infrastructure teams for planning and managing key APS product upgrades utilized in your solutions. Inspecting and evaluating progress while removing impediments for your squads. Defining, presenting, and evaluating results against agreed acceptance criteria. Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between solution quality, cost, and timelines. Ensuring a consistent, clear set of standard delivery routines based on stages of the solution lifecycle including contributing to quarterly reviews and planning. Partnering with the engineering chapter lead, ensure the development teams are creating quality solutions and following modern software development best practices. Coaching a team of Product Managers and Business analysts to realize their full potential. Working with the various APS Platform Development teams to understand and prioritize new features necessary to support use cases in the Strategic Solutions pipeline.
 

​The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or STEM related field 10+ years of deep technical and functional experience and must possess elevated analytical and coaching skills. 5+ years of product management experience, preferably in a financial services focused company. Experience working with automation / business process management / orchestration systems and teams. Knowledge of financial services operations and associated functions and needs, including the unique needs of the business units this team works with Strong partnering and influencing skills and the ability to execute strategic and tactical plans that drive business decisions in a matrixed organization. You can build trusted relationships and deliver both direction and clear alignment.  Advanced level of knowledge of multiple disciplines required to perform at a senior level. Experience managing technology platform resiliency and security related activities such as Audit and Disaster Recovery. Familiarity with modern test-driven development, CI-CD and DevOps practices. People management experience preferred with a consistent track record of developing and coaching talent. Agile experience preferred. Ability to take a data-driven approach to understanding business partner solution needs, translate strategic goals into action, and prioritize to enhance value delivery. Working collaboratively to deliver agreed business outcomes. Capability to lead, influence, and motivate colleagues without formal authority, and a track record of building high-performing teams. Proven program and executive communication skills. Intellectually curious and model a culture of learning and coaching. Strong ability to manage risk with a balance of impact to the firm understanding there is cost to all decisions, and which are the most prudent ones.
