JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX Corporation is looking for a Vice President to join our Privacy and Data Security Team which is headquartered in Los Angeles, CA. The Vice President, Privacy and Data Security will play a key role in providing legal guidance on FOX’s initiatives impacting privacy, cyber security and data use.  The Vice President, Privacy and Data Security will partner cross-functionally with FOX business lawyers, technology teams, and business leaders to advise on  cutting-edge, technology-oriented privacy and data security issues relating to all aspects of FOX’s media business, including, but not limited to, consumer-facing websites, mobile and other applications, compliance, drafting/negotiating contract language, policy, training, investigations, industry self-regulation, government relations, legislation, incident response, and litigation.  You will be working with the FOX Privacy and Data Security team as an invaluable resource, and will have a direct impact on our service as FOX continues to grow and scale, including internationally.  The Privacy and Data Security team is fast-paced and collaborative, as we work on challenging technical and legal issues, in a rapidly evolving privacy landscape.  

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Ongoing compliance with privacy and data security laws and self-governing frameworks and standards, including advice and counselling, management of initiatives, and any required related written work product

Draft and negotiate privacy and data security contract language

Draft privacy policies and other notices

Conduct internal privacy education and training

Respond to privacy rights requests

Provide support in connection with policy, government relations, legislation, and litigation related to privacy and data security

Partner with FOX colleagues and business leaders to implement principles, such as privacy by design 

Remain up to date on relevant privacy and data security laws and regulations, as well as on technological developments, threat vectors and evolving industry standards to ensure an ongoing ability to provide sound compliance advice

Support co-CPOs and Information Security Teams on incident response

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school

8+ years of hands-on privacy and/or data security experience at a top law firm and/or as in-house counsel

Experience providing pragmatic and actionable advice to clients on various obligations and legal risks under privacy and data security laws

Strong substantive background in privacy, data security, and technology, preferably in a direct-to-consumer context

Strong eye for detail with sharp analytical skills; excellent judgment and strategic thinking ability

Advise on  data use, security and privacy, including in commercial transactions

Fluency in translating legal advice into actionable guidance for non-legal cross-functional teams

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, creative environment

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Exceptional leadership and relationship management skills

Team-oriented attitude and the ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals of all levels

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects across multiple business units at one time

Registered In-House Counsel is acceptable, provided the individual is licensed in at least one U.S. state

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $247,000.00-300,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
