Job Description
This role reports to the Head of Operations & Infrastructure and is responsible for responsible for leading a Distributed Systems Engineering and Architecture teams globally. The team is responsible for architecture and engineering of hardware and software for compute, storage and the software that supports them including virtualization, containers, automation and infrastructure as code. The team has the responsibility for designing, deploying and managing solutions throughout their full system lifecycle.
In this role you will be accountable for designing and building innovative infrastructure solutions to support a massively scaled and high throughput environment in both private and public cloud datacenters. The position interacts with senior leadership within Visa and with a diverse set of vendors. You will drive key technology, platform and tooling decisions balancing technical, practical and application considerations. Extensive experience managing engineering teams as a hands on technical leader is a must. We are looking for a strong, passionate, seasoned, and innovative technology leader who will be a part of the Technology Leadership team and work collaboratively across Visa with different stakeholders to deliver commercial services to our clients. Responsibilities
Lead a team of approximately 170 located across the globe in locations in the US, UK, Singapore and India.Develop technology strategies and roadmaps to meet business objectives with emerging technologies by partnering with Technology and Product stakeholdersDesign and implement agile innovative infrastructure solutions that take advantage of technology advances resulting standardization, cost reduction and performance.Provide Compute as a Service offering to internal customers that are easy to consume, elastic, secure and reliable using Open Source based Cloud/ Container solutions.Partner with all the teams to design, implement and integrate Open Source based private cloud/ Containers platform in Visa’s data centers across the globe, enable the cloud solution to interoperate smoothly with existing IT infrastructure and processes, ensure security, availability and agility.Implement programs to reduce surface attack area through adoption of minimalistic operating systemsDrive the adoption of standard toolsets to reduce complexity and support Operational goals for increasing automation across the enterpriseApply creative thinking/approach to determine technical solutions that further business goals and align with corporate technology strategies, while considering security, performance, reliability, scalability, usability, flexibility, and costProvide resource plans, budget tracking and forecasting. • 15+ years of experience work experience in building and running global scale operational platforms and distributed systems. At least 10+ years in high scale always-on SaaS platforms.

• Ability to provide technical thought leadership and management in building always on infrastructure that mees and exceeds architecture and uptime and availability 99.9999% and more
• Prior hands-on experience in designing, building and implementing cloud and container infrastructure solutions.
• Experience in building automated solutions to provision, configure and decommission infrastructure components and stacks.
• Prior experience with x86 hardware, virtualization, operating system, containers and deployment of infrastructure for large enterprises is also required. Mainframe experience is desirable.
• Extensive technology background in the x86 hardware, virtualization, operating system, compute, containers and tools ecosystem to manage compute, cloud and containers, including monitoring, logging, configuration management and Cloud/ Container orchestration platforms
• Experience in selecting, designing and developing a toolchain with loosely coupled software components to perform specific technical functions.
• Experience in managing $100M+ budgets
• Extraordinary collaboration and partnership skills with the ability to work in a global environment and drive consensus in multi-functional teams.
• Ability to technically understand and drive new technology implementations, having a track record of leading the delivery of complex, multi-faceted technology initiatives with laser focused execution
• Proven ability to establish and sustain effective, professional relationships with team members, peers and leadership. Provide leadership to the technology group in order to create the right solutions for the market in the required time frames.
