Vice President, Engineering

In accordance with established policies, procedures and standards, under the direction of the Vice President, Global Engineering, is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the assigned Engineering organization. Responsible for the quality, content, consistency and continuity of all technical work performed in the assigned engineering organization. Responsible for the development of annual operating and capital budgets for the assigned engineering staffs. 

What You Will Do:

Leads all of engineering / product development for software business including QA. Ensures financials of the organization are understood, managed and forecasted accurately. Responsible for managing the day-to-day assigned Engineering operations to the approved annual budget and financial Profit and Loss established by CEO. Manages production work to meet performance targets (i.e., utilization, backlog, product deliverables.) and corporate support obligations (i.e., bugs) through manpower planning. Successfully completes current transition from waterfall to agile development. Ensures that engineering positions are organized and staffed properly and ensures quality, responsiveness and accuracy of engineering plan review and making sure certified engineers are assigned to projects. Ensures the assigned personnel are trained and administered appropriately to carry out the business plan and budget, as approved, in accordance with established policies, procedures and technical standards.  Appraises their performance, recommends compensation adjustments and advancements.  When changes so warrant, recommends alterations in organization and staffing.  

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, Master’s degree or equivalent preferred. 10 years of related engineering experience in a software company.  Experience with both on premise and SaaS a must.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The knowledge and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, concern technical issues to laymen and experts. The management skills to organize, plan, and direct the work activities of other professional employees. The human relation’s skills necessary to organize, direct and motivate senior level professionals and managers. These skills are also necessary to develop strong client relationships at the highest levels. The financial skills to develop, implement and manage budget and profit/loss account.   Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management System.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to either the CEO or the CPTO depending on candidate experience level. Direct reports include but are not limited to software development and quality assurance teams.
