Job Description of Services: + Provide on-site resources for the design, release, and implementation of component labels to facilitate traceability information of parts tied to the VIN of vehicle assembled at the client plant. + Conduct a review of the current scanner status across all North American plants – determine if any existing scanners that can be used and identify where new scanners are needed. + Lead discussion with suppliers to specify needed label updates, request quotes, and lead through the change control management / change approval process. + Communicate label descriptions and requirements to support preparations for manufacturing plant scanning implementation. + Identify and implement new scanning equipment required to support traceability info for designated components. Identify the source of new scanners, request quotes for new equipment, and lead the acquisition process. + Provide a single point of contact for plant-based personnel, working to ensure preparations for installation of new equipment, and setup of data acquisition systems is proceeding on schedule + Ensure manufacturing-specific documents calling out special characteristics for parts (including scanning and storing of traceability information) are updated properly. + Work with plant-based personnel to develop and execute a plan for validation and verification of installed equipment performance. + Keep weekly correspondence with the Manufacturing Engineer counterpart to track Change Request (CR) progress and assist in approvals when needed. + Deliver on-time results and communicate promptly if items will not be completed as scheduled. Deliverables: + Identify target parts that have been causal components in recent safety or compliance recalls being traced at all NA plants through the Client. + Update the design and release of components on the target list to include traceability features. + Work with suppliers to identify and specify needed label and equipment updates, and facilitate the change approval and implementation process + Communicate label descriptions and requirements to support preparations for manufacturing plant scanning implementation. + Work with assembly plants to prepare, schedule, install, and program new equipment. + Develop validation criteria with plant-based personnel and IT teams to ensure data systems for tracing the components are set up and operating as intended.
