Animal Emergency & Critical Care, a 24/7 emergency veterinary facility in fast-growing Huntsville, Alabama, offers immersive veterinary student externships at all academic levels. Our small but mighty team is highly trained and offers students the chance to manage their own cases from start to finish, and to practice their surgical skills.
Program Overview:
We host students in two- to eight-week blocks, adapting your externship experience to your school program requirements and your current knowledge and skill levels. Our typical student schedule involves 30 to 35 hours per week, with a focus on afternoons and evenings when the most interesting cases are seen. More advanced third- and fourth-year students can make diagnostic and treatment decisions and perform surgery under the attending veterinarian’s supervision and mentorship.
