Primary Responsibilities:
Manage and provide for the patient’s needs in the cardiology department.
Perform required treatments and record observations legibly in medical records.
Assist in patient restraint, test set up, nursing care and triage/discharge of patients.
Performance of basic in-house laboratory tests, completion of forms for laboratory, filing lab reports and clean-up of laboratory area.
Monitor daily husbandry activities of in-hospital patients.
Assist with bloodwork, echocardiograms, chest taps, physical exams
Communicate with doctors and technicians regarding patient status or concerns.
Provide after care for patients and clients.
Assist doctors in appointment (loading rooms, restraining, gathering histories)
Assist during surgery procedures (setting up the tables, assisting doctors, learning the equipment required, maintaining, cleaning and sterilizing the equipment, etc.)
Follow established hospital policies and procedures when handling client concerns
Document legibly and keep accurate medical records in accordance to hospital policy.
Clean and maintain ECG/Echo equipment. Clean and maintain surgical equipment.
Put on and take off holter monitors.
Shifts are subject to revisions and changes at the discretion of the hospital.
Clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION:
This position has an initial hiring range of $18.00 to $24.00 per hour based on skillset and experience. We offer a competitive shift differential for team members working the hours of 6pm to 6am at $2.00 per hour on top of base pay along with competitive benefits, including continuing education, staff pet discounts, incentives for professional development, health insurance, and 401k. We also offer a weekend differential that is an additional $2/hr for any work between 12 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.
WORK HOURS:
This is a full-time position, requiring a minimum of 30 hours per week. Actual working hours may vary depending on departmental needs, doctor availability, and direction from hospital leadership. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to support both operational needs and patient care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a minimum of two years’ experience in veterinary medicine. Specialty preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Knowledge of advanced patient handling and restraint.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations.
Ability to act as a team player, adhering to all core values of the hospital.
Punctual and reliable.
Must be able to obtain a Veterinary Medication Clerks License upon hiring and keep active throughout the entirety of employment.
