As the Vendor Management Director for our Investment Management Group (IMG), you will play a critical role in ensuring that IMG remains at the forefront of the industry by cultivating relationships with key vendors, negotiating favorable pricing, and overseeing vendor performance. Your strategic insights and leadership will help us access innovative, pioneering products and services at the lowest possible cost, ultimately supporting our mission to be the most trusted investment management group in the world. Responsibilities:
Hire, evaluate, and supervise crew, providing guidance, training, performance reviews, and making informed compensation decisions.
Establish an efficient operating model to serve the division’s needs in partnership with collaborators.
Manage complex vendor relationships, ensuring positive interactions, favorable pricing, and performance reporting.
Evaluate vendors before and after contract negotiations to ensure high value and return on investment.
Provide strategic insights on vendor use to support division objectives and innovation needs.
Consult with experts to assess vendor suitability and lead post-contract performance efforts, compiling data for managerial review.
Facilitate resolution, guide less experienced crew, and support Third-Party Risk Management policy adherence.
Participate in special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
Minimum of eight years related work experience. Five years' experience in vendor management preferred.
People leadership experience required - can be from roles in a variety of different business service delivery type domains (e.g., Finance, Operations, Technology etc.)
Experience with market data vendors a plus but not required. Knowledge of Vanguard’s fund and investments ecosystem (e.g., investments, product, investment operations etc.) desirable.
