The role
As a Vehicle Electrician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll get to work on the London Fire Brigade’s vehicles playing an integral part in keeping people safe.
Day-to-day, you’ll service and repair motor vehicles in a safe & efficient manner using such skills and knowledge as is required.
To service, maintain and repair vehicles, components and accessories including removal and refitting in a safe, proper, and economical manner using equipment provided. Interpret technical service information and data from manuals, bulletins and or computer files and data. Implement by applying correct techniques. Observe, recognise, and report on defects and or symptoms of impending failure. Identification of recharge costs advising the Workshop Supervisor and correct completion of paperwork. To diagnose faults and test vehicles utilising equipment available and using recognised test procedures and techniques. To work in an efficient and productive manner, achieving the targets set out and agreed with the workshop supervisory team.
This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time. This position involves working in confined spaces. Candidates must be able to work comfortably and perform tasks in restricted spaces. The successful candidate will be expected to work a flexible schedule, including weekend shifts, as required.
This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based on site at LFB Ruislip. This will be following a shift pattern arrangement supported with a Shift Premium.
Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential experience of the Vehicle Electrician
Knowledge of technical specifications, maintenance requirements Experience of servicing and repairing HGVs/LGVs. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and deliver in a complex environment. Good diagnostic skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and rectify mistakes. A proactive approach with the ability to work well in a team.
Qualifications for the Vehicle Electrician
Level 3 - Auto-Electric Maintenance or equivalent (e.g. IMI or NVQ, etc.) Educated to GCSE level or equivalent

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
