**Job Summary** We are seeking a Product Experience Consultant with 5 to 6 years of experience in Experience Design POV UX Consulting Design System Management Design System Creation Figma UI Design Patterns Adobe XD Product Design Responsive Web Design Visual Design Elements & Fundamentals Visual Branding Heuristic Review Creative Design for Websites & Apps Adobe Photoshop Information Architecture and Interaction Design. As part of this transformation the UX organization is championing Design Systems methodology to create and maintain reusable components that will lead to more efficient and consistent product design. This job is a member of the Transformation & User Experience (UX) within the Information Technology division at American Airlines. As an Engineer you will design build and operate systems in Americans development environment in collaboration with users product partners software vendors and other Engineering teams to increase the speed reliability and value of our systems. You will build and maintain end to end solutions at scale for our customers and employees across the enterprise meeting their expectations with the right tools platforms and experiences that deliver on caring for people on lifes journey. Own the strategy and implementation of a highly scalable design system and translate technical direction into easily understandable language for all levels of technical expertise Maintain a balanced workload with fellow engineers and provide mentorship/instruction to junior engineers Build design system artifacts that meet user needs and follow organizational IT standards process and infrastructure as well as industry best practices and trends in reusability accessibility and design system methodology Collaborate with Engineers Designers and Product partners to understand requirements and drive timely execution in an Agile environment. Enable product teams in their modernization journey to maintain the highest levels of development practices and standards when writing clean modular and self-sustaining code. Measure success of the design system through quantitative metrics that prove the value of reusability and consistency Produce clear actionable guidelines that help designers and developers understand the design system. Regularly update stakeholders and leaders on the state of the design system changes made and how it impacts product work. Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience Bachelors degree in software engineering computer science information systems or other related discipline or equivalent experience 3+ years of experience in web based front end user interface development or similar Full stack web development - HTML CSS and Javascript Web components Lit (or similar) Experience with iPhone/Android app design Experience in Scrum/Agile development environments Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience 5+ years of experience in delivering enterprise design systems at scale including web-based front-end user interface development or similar Experience working with UX (research information architecture visual design) Modern frameworks like Angular or React E-commerce and/or airline industry experience Skills Licenses & Certifications Experience with design prototyping and component library tools such as Figma or similar + Accessibility best practices: WCAG 2.0+ AA compliance localization inclusive design Understanding of components and patterns of a design system and how each design choice is able to scale Ability to audit the design system to remove redundancy and improve load times Language Communication Skills & Physical Abilities Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels within the organization Physical ability necessary to safely and successfully perform the essential functions of the position with or without any legally required reasonable accommodations that do not pose an undue hardship.
