UVA Orthopedic Center - Hand Therapist - OT/PT/CHT - Charlottesville, VA

UVA Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Hand Therapist to join our dynamic outpatient therapy team. This role is open to both licensed Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists with specialized training and experience in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate and treat patients with upper extremity conditions, including post-surgical cases, fractures, tendon injuries, arthritis, nerve injuries, and repetitive strain disorders.Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on restoring function, reducing pain, and promoting recovery.Fabricate custom splints/orthoses as appropriate to support rehabilitation goals.Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques, home exercise programs, and injury prevention strategies.Collaborate with referring physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare team members to ensure continuity and quality of care.Document patient progress in accordance with departmental standards and regulatory requirements.Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and evidence-based practice initiatives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy
Experience: 3 years of occupational therapy or physical therapy experience preferred. Certified Hand Therapist preferred or desire to obtain CHT.
Licensure: Licensed to practice in Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires frequently bending/stooping/traveling (distance: ½ mile). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
