We're hiring for a CCTV Inspection Operator/Tech IV :
+ Performs and coordinates critical Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) inspections, including the daily operation, maintenance and repair of the city’s wastewater collection system.
+ This position works under limited supervision.

Essential Functions
Performs highly complex and specialized tasks requiring considerable judgment, independent analysis and decision making. Provides leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. Reviews and directs daily work assignments performed by peers for completeness and accuracy.
Inspects and maintains underground assets in the wastewater collection system. Operates and maintains advanced closed circuit televising system (CCTV) equipment used in inspecting underground sewer pipes and related assets and the operation and maintenance of sewer line cleaning equipment. Operates CCTV equipment to rate pipe condition based on PACP standards and identifies major pipe problems. Inspects sewer systems for faulty connections or leaks and illegal connections.
Operates and maintains advanced high-velocity combination sewer cleaning/vacuum trucks to maintain flows and remove debris. Demonstrates an advanced understanding of the best maintenance and repair practices, including proper construction and cleaning techniques, nozzle types and sizes, CCTV transporter and camera setup, root saw use, etc.
Reports on collection system performance and maintains written and computerized records. Performs field observations and coordinates with the assigned supervisor to establish inspection and cleaning goals. Inspects and maintains assigned equipment and vehicles. Inspects and maintains safety-related equipment. Performs necessary precautions before entering confined spaces with potentially hazardous atmospheres. Uses air quality monitors and ventilators. Sets traffic control safety devices to ensure the safety of the public and the work crew.
Utilizes computer programs to enter data and create maintenance records to ensure compliance with local, state and federal rules, regulations and laws. Reads and interprets blueprints and technical manuals to research and order parts and equipment. Reads and interprets maps and GIS systems to troubleshoot problems in the collection system and locate underground assets to protect city infrastructure from damage. Marks underground utilities’ locations in compliance with state requirements.
Attends and completes assigned training to ensure compliance with city policy and state and federal regulations and maintain professional licensing and certification. Maintains a safe, clean and orderly work environment. Demonstrates a complete understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
+ High school diploma or equivalent and
+ 6 years of experience operating a Class B or A commercial vehicle with air brakes and tanker endorsements or
+ an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Knowledge of:
+ wastewater collection inspection, maintenance and cleaning;
+ operation and maintenance of vehicles, equipment and tools used in underground or wastewater utility work;
+ customer service practices; sewer lift station operation and repair, pipeline construction and repair and construction site protocols; and
+ computer usage including related software.
Ability to:
+ safely operate equipment and tools utilized in work;
+ interpret and apply SDS (safety data sheets) data and other safety procedures;
+ maintain state and city-required licenses and certificates;
+ communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and
+ perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Valid unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement
Knowledge of: cleaning, inspection and repair techniques of sewer lines and the operation and maintenance of various types of sewer pipeline cleaning and maintenance equipment, methods and safety practices; general business office and telephone etiquette, equipment and procedures; and record keeping, filing practices and general customer service techniques.
Ability to: obtain a Wastewater Collection Operator Class III or higher license.
Licensing And Other Requirements
Valid state-issued driver's license.
Valid unrestricted Class B CDL with tanker endorsement.
Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP) Certification within 6 months of employment.
Wastewater Collection Operator Class II license.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be able to pass:
City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Appointment to this position is contingent upon a negative pre-employment drug test.
Persons in this position must have a CDL that can handle a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds, occasionally lifting/carrying up to 75 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 100 pounds. Also, the employee is always pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds, frequently pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds, and occasionally pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate and rarely very loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear, smell, and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, runn, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb, and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity. Additional physical efforts include: twisting and bending and operating machinery in confined areas..
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards, work in/at heights and confined spaces. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to infectious bacteria, bodily fluids and chemicals. Employees work on stairs and uneven surfaces, near open tanks and ditches, in industrial areas; are exposed to hydraulic and vehicle hazards and insects and atmospheric hazards; are subject to slip hazards caused from ice/snow in winter, wet floors, uneven and undeveloped work surfaces. Exposure to sewage, scalding geothermal water, methane, hydrogen sulfide and other possible toxic gases and hazardous chemicals and substances.
This position works: shift work, a rotating on-call schedule and reports to the facility in times or emergencies, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as required. Individuals in this position are required to be on-call.
