US Retirement Benefits Specialist (Hybrid Work Schedule)
We are seeking a skilled US Retirement Benefit Specialist to join our dynamic team in Mebane, NC. The Retirement Benefit Specialist will be responsible for assisting our employees in understanding and optimizing their retirement benefit plans. This role requires a strong understanding of retirement planning principles relating to pension, 401k and the retiree medical plan. Excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide personalized guidance to our employees is essential.

In this role you will be responsible for assisting with the administration of all US benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short/long-term disability, voluntary benefits, rewards programs, 401(k) and Pensions.
Key responsibilities and essential duties include:
Administer and manage retirement benefit programs, including 401(k), in-house pension plans, and other retirement savings plans.Provide guidance and support to employees regarding their pre and post 65 retirement and pension plan options, enrollment, and benefits.Process life event claimsMonthly pension reconciliationEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to retirement benefits.Conduct regular audits of pension plans to ensure accuracy and compliance.Prepare and submit required regulatory filings and reports.Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to manage pension plan operations.Develop communications and mailings as needed by the company including educational materials and workshops to help employees understand their pension benefits.Stay updated on industry trends and changes in pension regulations.Perform regular audits of employee and benefits data to ensure accuracy and compliance.Maintain and update employee records and documentationDevelop and document pension and retirement processes and proceduresLead the 401(k) and pension audits performed by Sandvik’s outside auditor.Frequent Communication with Pensioners: Spend a significant amount of time on the phone with pensioners and retirees, addressing their inquiries and concerns with patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.Provide backup support to the team, including tasks such as 401(k) and HSA file reconciliation and delinquency loan reports, handling invoices, preparing service and retirement awards.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in finance, accounting, business administration, HR or a related field in the HR arena with benefits exposure.Minimum of 3 years of experience in pension administration or a similar role. Alternatively, proven experience in payroll processing, specifically with Dayforce and Workday HRIS.Knowledge of Customer Service Concepts and techniques; ability to meet and exceed customer needs and expectations while providing service in a direct and indirect manner.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.Experience auditing your own work and that of others to ensure compliance and accuracy.Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Experience documenting processes, procedures, and statements of work.Excellent collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Self-Starter: Be proactive in seeking out answers and solutions when faced with unfamiliar situations or questions.Highly Organized: Develop and implement systems and processes that enable efficient project management. The candidate must be able to start a project, switch to other tasks as needed, and then return to the original project to see it through to completion.Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or similar certification.Experience with Dayforce and Workday.Experience with in-house pension plan administration.Advanced Excel.Proficiency in HRIS and pension administration software.In-depth knowledge of pension plan regulations, including ERISA, IRS, and DOL requirements.Benefits:

Annual Salary Range is $70k - $85k depending upon level of experience. This role is eligible for an annual bonus opportunity.
