As a Portfolio Mentor, you will be working with students to (A) support them in developing and perfecting their works to produce a sufficient portfolio for art school application; and (B) offer advice and constructive reviews/feedback on their portfolio to set them up for success.

This position is extremely flexible in its responsibilities as each art medium and each student elicits different needs and consulting processes.

That being said, your general responsibilities within this role will include:

Complete training within a two week period of being onboarded Provide Portfolio Construction/Review to students assigned by Crimson HQ Brainstorming, constructing, and reviewing student works to guide and prepare them for art school application Timely and sufficient communication with clients, client teams, and Crimson HQ Proper information input and maintenance of the Crimson App Filling out session reports in the Crimson App after every student session

What We're Looking For:
You are a current student or graduate of top 30 undergraduate and graduate art programs, or are a professional or have extensive experience in one of the following fields:

Fashion Graphic Design Architecture Fine Art/Art Education Illustration Sculpture/Ceramics Filmmaking Animation Product Design Interior Design Fashion Design Photography Music- Instrumental Performance Music- Vocal Performance Music- Composition Music- Recording, Engineering, Production Dance Drama (Acting) Poetry Prose/Fiction Playwriting Film/TV Writing

You are an Excellent Communicator:
This job requires the capacity to communicate with students and Crimson employees with clarity, professionalism, and kindness. You will be expected to be responsive to all communications within 24 hours, including on weekends, and you will be compensated for these additional hours.

You are Organized:
This position requires organization and keeping track of the portfolio status and case details of a varying number of students. Competency in the Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail) is strongly encouraged.

You are Adaptable:

The heart of our program is the extremely hands-on support we provide to our students; the nature of this work requires that you are very comfortable with managing unexpected situations. You must be the type of person who thrives in dynamic environments that call for flexibility and collaborative proactivity.

You Have Excellent Constructive Criticism and extensive knowledge on the art school application process:
The most important task of this job is consulting students in the development and perfection of their portfolio. We look for mentors who have:
1. Extensive knowledge and experience on the art school application process
2. A strong and deep understanding of what admissions committees look for.
3.The capacity to help students reflect and glean insights from experiences.
4. The capacity to ask insightful and helpful questions.
5. The capacity to scaffold and teach a process of reflection, brainstorming, and revising clearly, professionally and kindly.
