May exercise functional supervision over assigned staff. This position is an "unclassified" position and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason. Work Location 5800 Historic Old US Hwy 90, San Antonio, TX 78227, USA. Work Schedule 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Monday - Friday Essential Job Functions + Manages the design, development, and implementation of projects to include, but not limited to gathering and defining the project requirements; obtaining staffing requirements; and forming project teams. + Develops and refines methods, procedures, and quality objectives, utilizing metrics to assess progress and ensure project standards are met. + Leads project kickoff meetings, clearly communicating team roles and expectations, and ensuring all team members are equipped with the necessary tools and training. + Develops detailed project plans and schedules. + Provides work direction and leadership to assigned project teams, including scheduling, assignment of work, and review of project efforts. + Monitors critical project milestones and identifies potential risks, proposing solutions to avoid delays and keeping management informed of significant changes. + Conducts formal quality assurance reviews with the project sponsor during and upon each project completion to confirm acceptance and satisfaction. + Provides constructive feedback to the project team on performance and development opportunities. + Interviews, selects, supervises, develops, and if necessary, counsels personnel according to established City of San Antonio policies and procedures. + Fosters strong working relationships with sponsors, project team members, and external vendors to ensure seamless project execution. + Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Job Requirements + Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. + Two (2) years of project management experience. Preferred Qualifications + Three (3) or more years' experience in forestry, natural resource management, or a closely related field. + ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) certification. + Experience with work order systems. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Excel. + Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Knowledge of project management principles, industry best practices, and methodologies. + Knowledge of organizational structure, team management, and leadership strategies. + Knowledge of basic accounting and budgeting principles. + Skill in developing project plans and scope of work. + Skill in using personal computers and a variety of MS Office software applications. + Skill in tact and diplomacy. + Ability to estimate, plan, track, control costs and provide status reporting. + Ability to plan, execute, and control a project (establishing realistic estimates and reporting metrics). + Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. + Ability to assess and analyze project risks and exposures; identify options and alternatives, make decisions, and implement corrective actions. + Ability to lead a group to accomplish a common goal. + Ability to promote and build a team atmosphere, motivating team members. + Ability to prepare clear and concise technical reports and presentations. + Ability to plan and organize projects. + Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations. + Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment.
